It's important to express and share our emotions, even the painful ones

In my neighborhood, wealth is seen as a source of influence and authority

And in the world money controls everything we believe in
Money has an outsized impact on shaping our beliefs and values on a global scale

I recognize that we're currently experiencing a very bleak period

I'm concerned that our governmental institutions may be as corrupt as some law enforcement bodies

I used my weekend to stay informed on current events

A girl committed suicide after she was bullied at school
There was a tragic occurrence where a female student took her own life due to being subject to bullying

'Cause some dudes told her she wasn't cool
A group of guys overtly communicated to her that she wasn't worthy of their time and attention

But you would rather gossip about a famous person breaking the rules
It's frustrating that certain individuals choose to focus their attention on celebrity scandals rather than more substantive social issues

I'm confused, tell me is my life's price worth the jewels?
I'm grappling with the notion of whether my life is truly valuable or if my pursuit of material possessions is misplaced

They told me fight night I'm supposed to lose
There is an expectation that I will come out on the losing end in a fight

Just 'cause in hindsight, they don't like my type
Merely because of my background and differences, some don't believe I can succeed

Despite what some may believe, I know that our generation can make a difference

We must acknowledge and confront the injustices and problems of the world

Our perspective enables us to see the often-hidden realities of the world

I would rather die on my feet than live my knees
I believe in standing up for what I believe in, even if it comes at great personal cost

If I can't live free right now in the world we just need
I'm not content with living in a world that does not value true freedom and justice
