Twilight
MONKEY MAJIK Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Shine so bright
'Cause I don't ever wanna fall apart
I knew that you were something special
Shine so bright
'Cause I don't ever wanna fall apart
I knew that you were something special
Maybe we can fly away to the twilight
Maybe we can fly away to the twilight (light)
I knew that you were something special
The lyrics of "Twilight" by MONKEY MAJIK paint a vivid picture of introspection and transformation. The opening lines describe a sense of being seen through and loneliness reflected in someone's eyes, followed by a sharp gaze and a quiet closing of the eyes. This imagery sets the tone for a journey of self-discovery and connection with the world around them.
The lyrics then shift to a scene where the vast sky is painted in pastel colors, with a smile that turns away towards someone else's tomorrow. The imagery of birds being led towards a bright shine suggests a sense of hope and possibility amidst the uncertainty. The mention of twilight symbolizes a transition or a moment of change, where the sky turns into the sea, reflecting a sense of fluidity and transformation.
As the song progresses, the lyrics introduce the image of a canary in a cage and cosmos flowers in a pocket, symbolizing confinement and solitude. The idea of small fragments coming together to reach the depths of the sea, transforming into galaxies and playing with stardust, conveys a theme of growth and evolution. The shining brightness amidst the darkness signifies resilience and the ability to transform one's surroundings.
The chorus conveys a desire to not fall apart and to hold on to dreams that lead to a hopeful future. The metaphor of dreams being linked to a ship of hope and the mention of a special connection emphasize the importance of holding onto something meaningful. The changing seasons from winter to spring symbolize cycles of change and renewal, suggesting that despite the challenges, there is always the potential for growth and new beginnings.
The closing lines suggest a longing to fly away to the twilight, where dreams are connected to a ship of hope once again. The repeated affirmation that "I knew that you were something special" can be interpreted as a recognition of the uniqueness and value of oneself or someone close. The overall message of the song seems to be about embracing change, holding onto hope, and recognizing the special qualities within oneself and others, even in the midst of uncertainty and transformation.
