Rumbo paquí
Rumbo pa ya
Se hunde la tierra
De su wawanco
Se hunden cachitos entre tu y yo
Se hunde la guasa
Se hunde la comparsa
Se hunde
Mares, Mares, Mares, Mares
Tierra de Mares
Se ahoga el mundo
En su propio mar (x2)
Dicen que no lo sabían
que la barca se quebró
Pero el que tapa solo retrasa
Lo que un mal paso nos dio
Un mundo de poco oído
Que nadie escucha naufragio
Pa todo el mundo (x2)
Mares, Mares, Mares, Mares
Tierra de Mares
Se ahoga el mundo
En su propio mar (x2)
Palabras de huesos por la médula
Atravieso camino
Pasos muy lentos pisando
Pasos con pasos
Así somos
Donde vamos
Sin tierra nos quedamos
Vete tu a saber
Vete tu a saber
Ciegos de malas lunas
Ladrando perros en sus cunas
Tenían mal aguero
Nunca fue fácil sus vuelos
Y si la tormenta
Caminan pal de frente
Y las patadas que nos vengan por delante
Mares, Mares, Mares, Mares
Tierra de Mares
Se ahoga el mundo
En su propio mar (x6)
The lyrics of Macaco's song "S.O.S." talk about a world that is sinking, both physically and metaphorically. The first verse mentions everything sinking and disappearing – the earth, the wawanco (a traditional Peruvian instrument), the guasa (a type of rattle used in Latin American music), and the sound of the drum. The repetition of "mares" also adds to this sinking feeling as it means "seas" in Spanish. The chorus talks about the world drowning in its own sea, which can be interpreted as a reference to both the physical sea and to the troubles that humanity has caused for the world.
