1. Machinery was… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least three bands with the name Machinery:
1. Machinery was formed in late 2001 by founder/singer Michel Isberg and drummer Johan Westman. After meeting each other on a mutual friends birthday-party and some amount of beer a decision was made. Machinery was to be formed!
The first years meant truly hard work for Michel and Johan and numerous members came and went. Because Michel is basically a guitarplayer from childhood years the original idea was to let Michel do The guitars and the hunt for the right vocalist began. After countless auditions no suitable singer was to be found and Michel finally decided to do the singing himself. Worth mentioning is that lead-singer of Hydrogen, Niclas Olsson trialed but decided to decline the position and shortly afterwards formed Hydrogen!
2002 was mainly a year for Michel and Johan of experimenting to find their own musical style and also to find a second guitarplayer that would cope with the challenge! Michel´s younger brother Markus came in for a while, but was forced to leave due to the fact that the first studioexperience with the band was approaching and Markus simply wasn´t good enough at the time, although personality-wise he really filled the spot.
In October 2002 the first demo was recorded in Necromorbus Studio and was to be called 'A part of steel in an endless machine'. The present line-up consisted of Michel as lead singer and guitarplayer, Fredrik Öhlund as bassplayer and Johan Westman as drummer. Interesting here is that almost immediately after the recording session Markus was reinstated as second guitarplayer! Shortly after the recording session and first gig ever, at local mc-club MC-Mjölner, Fredrik decided to leave the band to prioritize his studies.
The remaining band decided to lay low for a while and give Markus the time he needed to develop his guitar skills though both Johan and Michel felt that Markus had an remarkable talent for the instrument! All he needed was some time, guidance and practise to develop his skills.
In the spring of 2003, Michel, Markus and Johan had grown to be a solid 3-piece. There were no questions that this was the strong solid foundation of Machinery which was to drive their music into unknown land! A new studiosession was booked and 'A part of steel in an endless machine part II” was recorded in late fall of 2003. For the time being the band decided to experiment with their music and to let things take their course in order to find their own style.
Now when the time was right a bassplayer was to be found and after some searching Michel's former bandmate Hans Johansson came in to the picture. Hans used to be the lead singer of his and Michel´s former band “Dimension” and had also skills in both guitar and bass.
In February 2004 Hans joined the band officially and his entrance made quite some difference concerning vocals! With that kind of talent in the band it would be a shame if it was to get by unnoticed. Henceforth both Michel and Hans was to divide the singing between them and this decision inspired the band to new grounds!
Yet again a visit to Necromorbus studio was scheduled in October 2004. The final product became the 'Machinery - The beginning' - demo. 4 new tracks were recorded and the demo included some of the earlier classic tracks such as 'Rectifier' and 'Machinery'.
From the spring of 2004 all the way to November 2005 Machinery performed countless gigs and worth mentioning are the ones with Vicious Art, Stormrider and Tad Morose!
Sadly in November 2005 Machinery decided to part ways with Hans after some personal turmoil. Everyone wanted this line-up to work but in the end all of the involved needed to realize that the chemistry in the band wasn´t right. Machinery decided to fulfill it´s commitments and play the gigs which was scheduled with a fill in bass-player and Michel to do all the singing himself… BIG thanx to KG West for helping us out during this harsh period. A night full with melancholy turned out to be one of the best performances ever at the Club Undergound Sweden in November as openers to Man Machine industry.
In January 2006 the replacement was official! Per Lindström, filled the spot and Machinery found some new vigour. Per´s entrance at the gig 'Mondo Metal Fest' 27th of january was a savage display! The gig with Dismember and Insision turned out to be a success!
In May Machinery participated on the 'Thrashing The Masses' compilation and gig. Together with acts such as Subcyde, Altair and Goatsodomizer. That gig truly showed that the thrash scene is alive and well in Stockholm.
In August 2006 Machinery recorded their debutalbum 'Degeneration' together with Sverker Widgren in Necromorbus studio. And released by Last Entertainment the 16th of October. Also participating on this recording was keyboardist Fredrik Klingwall.
2. Machinery was formed in Connecticut in 1987, well before the Swedish Machinery. They have released 2 full length albums and 2 demos. They played Classic US Power Metal on their demos, while on their full lengths, they at times sounded like Nothingface-era Voivod, after some major lineup changes. They have reformed with their original lineup and have a 2 minute demo of one of their new songs on youtube

Machinery Lyrics

All that I need for now
All that I need for now
All that I need for now
Are your arms
CHORUS
So many things I wanted to say
But we never had the time
Don't act like you still are as cold as ice
The way you left that morning
Without a warning
I swear I couldn't understand
Still I keep on thinking
Of what it meant to me
All that I need for now
Are your arms
REPEAT CHORUS
I think I'll wait till tomorrow
To drown my sorrow
I'm really feeling down it's over
My world is turning
So these words meen nothing
All that I need for now
Are your arms
REPEAT CHORUS
The lyrics of the song “Cold” by Machinery depict a nostalgic and emotional state of mind of the singer who is lamenting the loss of a loved one. The song begins with the repeated line “All that I need for now” which suggests that the singer is only focused on one thing currently which is the embrace of their lost love. The chorus of the song talks about the regret the singer has of not being able to express their feelings before the relationship ended. The singer still cherishes the memories they have with the lost love and expresses their yearning to be embraced by them again despite the perceived coldness from the other person.
The second verse of the song indicates that the relationship ended abruptly as the singer describes the event as “the way you left that morning, without a warning”. The singer talks about the difficulty in understanding the suddenness of the relationship ending, but they choose to focus on the positive aspects of the relationship and their desire to still be with the other person. The final verse of the song sees the singer feeling a sense of hopelessness and thinking about drowning their sorrows in alcohol, but ultimately deciding that all they need is the embrace of their lost love.
Overall, the lyrics of “Cold” showcase the emotions that come with the end of a relationship and the desire to hold onto the positive memories and love shared between individuals.
