Once I was seven years old my mama told me

Once I was eleven years old my daddy told me
My father advised me to find a partner early in life to avoid feeling lonely.

My father encouraged me to find a life partner who would provide companionship.

I always had that dream like my daddy before me
My father also had a similar dream that I inherited - to become a successful artist.

So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
I pursued my passion for music and began composing songs and stories.

Something about that glory, just always seemed to bore me
Although fame was tempting, it never interested me as much as connecting with genuine loved ones.

Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
I realized that only people I loved and trusted would ever truly understand my true self.

Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
At the age of 20, I gained recognition for my work, and people started to learn my story.

Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
My breakthrough happened during a difficult time in my life when I felt alone.

Soon we'll be 30 years old, our songs have been sold
My friends and I will hit our 30s soon, and we have sold numerous records globally.

We've traveled around the world and we're still roaming
Despite our successes, we are still exploring the world as we continue to make music.

I'm still learning about life
Even though I'm an adult, I'm still gaining knowledge and understanding about the world.

My woman brought children for me
My partner has given us children, making me a father.

So I can sing them all my songs
I hope to share my music with them and create a deeper bond through it.

And I can tell them stories
I aim to share not just my music, but also stories that they can learn from.

Most of my boys are with me
Many of my closest friends are still standing by my side and supporting me.

Some are still out seeking glory
Some of my friends are still chasing various pursuits, including fame and fortune.

And some I had to leave behind
Unfortunately, some of my dear friends and I have grown apart and had to part ways.

My brother I'm still sorry
I regret losing touch with a particular friend who I considered a brother.

Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
As I anticipate turning 60, I wonder if I'll still view the world as a positive place.

Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Alternatively, I could find comfort and love from my many children.

Soon I'll be 60 years old
In the future, I'll reach a milestone year that represents old age.
