I was 12 when this album was popular and literally every girl tried to dress like Madonna after it's release. I remember going out and buying all the bracelets she wore up to her elbows, the black leather booties, the net-like shirt and the huge bow in my hair. I even wore the lace gloves. We all did!!! A really fun time to be a teenager. She is truly an icon.

I was like 12 or 13 when this came out MTV was pretty new. My mom called me into the living room and pointed to tv.I was dressed similar but I didn't know who she was and pissed she dressed so much like me.lol .I listened to David Blair,Lou Reed & The Velvet Underground, stuff like that The Romones I was even a bit goth before it really blew up. Years later I learned how much she didn't care or liked me to ended my relationship with you. Now at 50 I'm still the only way I was then.

Hard to believe it's been 40 years since this was released. "Holiday" and "Lucky Star" were the first two Madonna songs the majority of the public ever heard, in late '83 and early '84. I was surprised to find that "Lucky Star" only peaked at #4 on Billboard at the time, because it was SO omnipresent on the radio in '84 that I could have sworn it hit #1. Has it? Wow. I was a teenager in junior high school when I heard this song and loved it. Was it in 1981 or 1982 this song? I was in junior high school and high school during the 80’s. In junior high I tried my hardest to dress like Madonna. I even had black lace gloves similar to hers. A female classmate wore them and nicked ‘em. I was annoyed at her. When I asked her she made excuses for not wearing them and said she didn’t know where they were. I knew she was lying.
