The pair released an album on Capitol Records in 1968 titled The Rise and Fall of Honesty; an album which has not been rereleased or made available since it was first issued. Parade
Maffitt/Davies Lyrics
I'm the devil draped in emptiness
Venus in your hand
Kicking rainbows with my back upon the sand
There goes the sound of my self-confidence
Tearing at the seams
I'm the center of the universe
But only in my dreams
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
I'm an angel wrapped in nothingness
But never by myself
There's a million others wrapped in something else
I can't believe it's just an accident
Or how did I get here?
In the shadow of the blackest hole
I will disappear
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
Scream and I will come
Following the sun
And speak the kind of words
That you could hang your coat upon
But if I fall from grace
Up in outer space
Angel have no fear
Coz I can see my house from here
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
Ii'm the devil lost in loneliness
Venus in your hand
Kicking rainbows with my back upon
My back upon the sand
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
Venus in your hand
Kicking rainbows with my back upon the sand
There goes the sound of my self-confidence
Tearing at the seams
I'm the center of the universe
But only in my dreams
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
I'm an angel wrapped in nothingness
But never by myself
There's a million others wrapped in something else
I can't believe it's just an accident
Or how did I get here?
In the shadow of the blackest hole
I will disappear
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
Scream and I will come
Following the sun
And speak the kind of words
That you could hang your coat upon
But if I fall from grace
Up in outer space
Angel have no fear
Coz I can see my house from here
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
Ii'm the devil lost in loneliness
Venus in your hand
Kicking rainbows with my back upon
My back upon the sand
And it's all too beautiful
This beautiful parade
