That's what, that's what, that's what
Somebody said to me
Well I do, I do
She needs to know that there are tears behind these eyes
We've taken off our clothes, let's take off our disguise
It takes two, two
Love like nirvana
Fly high like Superman
Don't mask the monster
Why can't we tell ourselves the truth
Spill all our secrets in the room
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
We all got something that bumps in the night
It's always loneliest before the light
Shines through, through
The city's burning but we play pretend
It's hard to feel when your back's in the wind
Out of view, view
Love like nirvana
Fly high like Superman
Don't mask the monster
Why can't we tell ourselves the truth
Spill all our secrets in the room
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
My hideaway
My hideaway
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
It's you, you're my saving grace
My hideaway
And you, you're my sweetest taste
My hideaway
My hideaway
In "Hideaway" by Magic, the lyrics reflect the feelings of sadness, loneliness, and vulnerability that the singer experiences. The song begins with someone asking if they ever feel sad and lonely, to which the singer responds affirmatively. This establishes a sense of shared understanding and empathy. The next lines express the singer's need for someone to recognize the tears behind their eyes and to let go of their facade.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of the other person in the singer's life. They describe them as their saving grace and their hideaway, indicating that this person brings them comfort and solace from the difficulties they face. The metaphorical imagery of taking off clothes and disguise suggests a desire for a deeper, authentic connection where they can be their true selves. The lines "Love like nirvana, fly high like Superman, don't mask the monster" allude to the need for honesty and self-acceptance in their relationship. The singer questions why they cannot be truthful with themselves and why they keep their secrets hidden.
The second verse delves further into the complexities of their emotions. It acknowledges that everyone has something that haunts them, metaphorically represented as "bumps in the night." The line "It's always loneliest before the light shines through" suggests that they believe there is hope and happiness waiting on the other side of their struggles. However, they also acknowledge the difficulty of feeling when they feel ignored or unseen.
Overall, "Hideaway" is a heartfelt plea for connection, honesty, and understanding. It explores the universal experience of feeling lonely, but also highlights the transformative power of love and trust in overcoming these emotions.
