Resistance
Magoa Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm not the scapegoat you're looking for
The loyal dog of the system that begs and crawls
To all the victims, the fallen sons
Let their heads fall till the break of dawn

I wanna cover your face with a shroud
Don't even think about a funeral
We're creating a massive dissidence
The rampage of your dominance
Reveals all the secrets
Burns all the thieves

We are the orphans born anew

To all the victims
The fallen sons
The silent forces
The broken ones
Together we'll crush these fucking walls
It's time now their heads will fall
We want the best
But prepare for the worst
You sold your fate for an ounce of lust
Say my name
Resistance

I wanna die in the name of my freedom
Blow your ashes ‘fore I disappear
Raise the flag of a brand new providence
A kingdom built on your dust and bones
Where the lamb is a king
And we feast on your breed

We are the orphans born anew
We are the orphans born anew
We are the orphans born anew
We are
Resistance
We are the orphans born anew
We are
Resistance

To all the victims
The fallen sons
The silent forces
The broken ones
Together we'll crush these fucking walls
It's time now their heads will fall
We want the best
But prepare for the worst
You sold your fate for an ounce of lust
Say my name
Resistance

We are the orphans born anew
Say my name
Resistance

We are the orphans born anew

We are
Resistance

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Magoa's "Resistance" is a defiance against the system and the oppressors. The song begins by stating that the singer is not the scapegoat that the oppressors are looking for. The singer refuses to be the "loyal dog" of the system that begs and crawls. The next line talks about the victims and fallen sons, whom the singer wants to see their heads fall at the break of dawn. The oppressed people have suffered enough, and it's time for their oppressors to pay for their crimes.

The second verse speaks of creating a massive dissidence, which will reveal all the secrets and burn all the thieves. The oppressed are orphans born anew, and they will come together to crush the "fucking walls." The singer wants the best, but they are prepared for the worst. The oppressors have sold their fate for an ounce of lust, and now it's time for the singer to say their name, "Resistance." The chorus repeats, "We are the orphans born anew/ Say my name/ Resistance."

The final lines of the verse talk about how the singer wants to die in the name of their freedom. They want to blow the oppressors' ashes before they disappear entirely. The singer wants to raise the flag of a brand new providence, a kingdom built on the dust and bones of the oppressors. The lamb will be the king, and the oppressed people will feast on their oppressors' breed. The chorus repeats, "We are the orphans born anew/ We are Resistance."
