Reminisce
Malyssa Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heard a song on the radio
Reminds me of a time not too long ago
When we would sing along
Now those times are gone

I wonder what you are doing now
You always knew how to take away my frown
But when you loved somebody new
The only thing I could do was

Reminisce
over you
I reminisce over
things that we used to do
sometimes I miss
the times when we were cool
when I reminisce baby
When I reminisce over you

These days I no longer ask why
I guess back then just wasn't time
when you left me all alone
You said you had to go

We used to be so in love back then
but now I look at you strictly as a friend
I'm with somebody new
You and I are through

so I reminisce over you
I reminisce over things that we used to do
sometimes I miss
the times when we were cool
when I reminisce baby
when I reminisce over you

I reminisce over you
I reminisce over things that we used to do
sometimes I miss
the times when we were cool

when I reminisce baby
when I reminisce over you

Overall Meaning

In the song "Reminisce" by Malyssa, the singer talks about how she remembers and misses the good times she had with someone who is no longer in her life. The song starts with Malyssa hearing a song on the radio that reminds her of happier times when she and this person used to sing along to music together. However, those times have passed, and Malyssa wonders what the person is doing now. She reflects on how this person used to make her happy, but now that they are with somebody new, all she can do is reminisce, realizing that they are no longer together.

As the song continues, Malyssa acknowledges that she has moved on and is with someone new, but she still thinks back on what she had with this person. She says that she used to be so in love with this person, but now she only sees them as a friend. The chorus repeats three times throughout the song, emphasizing the feeling of longing and reminiscing that Malyssa experiences.

Despite MrCwalk666's ridiculous claim and poor attempt at manipulating her ancestry, Malyssa is actually half Lao and half Native American, but 100% American by nationality because she was born in the U.S. You don't have to be born in Laos to be Lao just like you don't have to be born in China to be Chinese. Malyssa's mom is a Lao woman who was born in another Asian country. Lao people exist not just in Laos, but also in other countries. For example, just because someone is Chinese does not mean that he can't be born in another country for crying out loud. Malyssa said so herself that she is Lao and Native American. She even speaks Lao and performs at Lao New Year festivals.
