Talk
Manimal Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In this light, I could be anyone
The hero that you wanted all along
A giant's shadow looming up the wall
But smaller now than I ever was

Oh my kindness is a lie
Wicked tongue and wicked eyes
She was shy and I was just a boy
I wonder where a girl like that would go

The hollow ring of silver on the floor
Bought your company, but not your love
Here we are, my mercenary friends
We can drink and talk and play pretend

All the words that hurt you
Wear them now like armor
They will never harm or burden you again
I won't fight like a lion of the rock
But damn it if I don't give good talk
Talk, talk, talk

A cliché of a broken thing
A ruin filling up on wine and skin

Leave this city, go across the sea
Forget the ashes of my family
We are all still puppets on their strings
Truth an ever-buried, bitter thing

Talk, talk, talk

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Manimal's song "Talk" conjures a sense of introspection and the desire to be something or someone that you're not. The singer sings that they could be anyone in the light, even the hero that has always been desired. They compare themselves to a giant's shadow, but one that has now shrunk, suggesting that they may have fallen from grace or lost their previous stature. The second verse shows a stark contrast to the confident image they display. The singer admits that their kindness is a lie, and they have a wicked tongue and eyes. They mention a girl from their past, whom they wonder about where she went. This, coupled with their admission of dishonesty, shows a certain vulnerability and a longing for something they don't have.

The chorus, "All the words that hurt you, wear them now like armor," speaks to the power of words and how they can affect us. The singer seems to suggest that by embracing the words that have hurt them in the past, they've become stronger and found protection from future harm. They won't fight like a lion, but they can talk, and damn it if they don't do it well.

The final verse takes a more melancholic turn and seems to suggest a desire to escape from reality. The singer urges the listener to leave the city and go across the sea, forgetting about the ashes of their family. They seem to imply that we're all puppets on strings, controlled by forces beyond our control. The song ends with the repeated refrain of talk, talk, talk, emphasizing the power of words and how they can be both weapons and shields.

Spirit: what a magnificent cat. My God. The majesty in him. He knows who he is and is recognized as such in this humble, kind-hearted animal sanctuary. Thank you to Jukani for calling back in the calming and generous of heart Anna Breytenbach. The sanctuary, Anna, and Spirit's paths have crossed for a reason: true companionship and respect all around.
I say hello to Spirit every morning and say a prayer to all animals based on a prayer from Dr. Emoto (who studied water, snowflakes and the effects of emotions and different music on snowflakes). Dr. Emoto suggested saying this prayer to water:
"Water we are sorry.
"Water please forgive us.
"Water, we thank you.
"Water, we love you."

I say this prayer and altered it for animals:
"Animals, we are sorry.
"Animals, please forgive us.
"Animals, we thank you.
"Animals, we love you."

What a fitting prayer for this utterly magnificent being, Spirit, and all who are helping him by letting him be, and to all around world who keep him in their thoughts ... and help animals as they can. Cheers fom America.

@Coincidence_Theorist

I think Anne Marie would like you me and everybody else to realize that she isnt some anomaly and ,.. more specifically that we can and should all have be part of this exchange.

(And now speaking from my own heart, so as not to put words in hers..🫀)

Part of the whole rather than bits bytes, cuts and holes of a an incomplete deck.

Everything a seperate parcel and piece. Dissected collectdead and boxed. Division. Separation.
Awl’d different. Languishing Independent. Indecision. The forbidden. Incisions the living. Views skewed in two. Die’vision…of Death. Looping endlessly. First to last breath.

The wrong vision has corrupted the all living things with a lie.
Made to die. Now idea why.

That is a question. One of many to question and realize in amazement the
Quest-i-on is in a-maze-ment ….. but….for what??

I suggest starting with the definition of “amazement”

And think word breaking. Compound anagrams.

Dear Anna, your first story about Spirit touched so many of us and stayed in our hearts and minds. I frequently just "talk" to him and send him my love, as I do to all the animals of the world. What a majestic and beautiful creature Spirit is! To see the change in his eyes from fury to astonishment and then a new view of the world, just made me cry with happiness! Also, when the gentlemen who was taking care of him spoke to him and got such a tremendous response, I was so happy!! PLEASE keep teaching us humans to be compassionate with all animals!
I cannot bear the cruelty that still goes on. Can you please contact the bird world and ask those who
have to live in cages if we can make the cages better, I would be really grateful! It's bad enough that
we rob them of their freedom, but they are also exposed to drafts, sun, cold, and have nothing pretty
inside with them. The fish aquaria are also a great concern, as they make them smaller and smaller.
Why don't we put ourselves in the animals' places and see it from THEIR point of view? I wish I could communicate with them as well as you do. You have a wonderful gift, and we thank you deeply for
all the important work you accomplish! I hope our overall consciousness will become kinder towards
all life on this precious planet. God gave us so much, let us be most grateful and do our part so that
the suffering of the innocents will stop. Love and blessings to all!!
