I'll never forget when this came out in 2000. I was 12 years old, and staying up wayyy late on a Saturday night by myself, with the glow of the TV filling the living room. Space Ghost Coast to Coast had just finished, and Cartoon Network just started playing this weird song with blue people. Blew me away. Took me years to figure out what it was, because they didn't give any explanation when they aired it. Very cool by the producers.

I was at the university, so you can imagine how it was. It is funny to think that at that time I already had the sensation that the new generations wouldn't party like us, it was clear the music was slowly degrading all over the world. But we still got some more 7 years or so from there with pretty good early 2000's dance music, the beginning of good techno and rock bands from the 90's still kicking ass. Those songs held shit together for a time.


After that, it degraded to Brittney Spears (who was a genius compared to the poop we listen to now), awful lyrics coming to hip hop (yo ma champagne bottle I f¨%#$ blondes), and more "cry me a river" sort of music made to the new people called "emos".


What we have now, I can't even begin to describe. It is not a matter of being like "hey my era was better", it is simply that the culture is god damn awful. Maybe the 90's were a sort of miracle, a bubble of creativity and rebellion.
