Η περιγραφή του Κυρίου Ημών Ιησού Χριστού απ' τον Ρωμαίο Κυβερνήτη της Ιουδαίας
Ανατριχίλα προκαλεί το γράμμα του ειδωλολάτρη Διοικητή της Ιουδαίας, το οποίο βρέθηκε στη Βιβλιοθήκη των Λαζαριστών της Ρώμης.
Ο Πούλβιος Λέντουλος, που ήταν ο Ρωμαίος Διοικητής της Ιουδαίας πριν απ' τον Πόντιο Πιλάτο, το έστειλε στον Ρωμαίο Αυτοκράτορα Τιβέριο και σ' αυτό περιγράφεται η μορφή του Κυρίου Ημών Ιησού Χριστού.

"....Ήκουσα, ω Καίσαρ, ότι επιθυμείς να μάθης ότι σοί γράφω νυν περί ανθρώπου τινός λίαν ενάρετου καλουμένου ΙΗΣΟΥ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ, ών ο λαός θεωρεί Προφήτην και οι μαθηταί του Θεόν, λέγοντες ότι είναι Υιός Θεού, πλάστου των ουρανών και της γης και παντός ό,τι εν αύτη ευρίσκεται και υπάρχει.
Τη αληθεία, ω Καίσαρ, ακούονται καθ' εκάστην θαυμάσια πράγματα περί του Χριστού αυτού.
Ανεγείρει νεκρούς και ιατρεύει ασθενείς δια μιας μόνης λέξεως. Είναι ανήρ αναστήματος μετρίου, καλός την όψιν και μεγαλοπρέπειαν περιβεβλημένος, ιδίως κατά το πρόσωπον, ώστε όσοι Τον ατενίζουν αναγκάζονται να Τον αγαπούν και να Τον φοβώνται.
Έχει την κόμην χρώματος καρύου ώριμου (=καστανά) εξικνουμένην μέχρι των ώτων Του, εκείθεν δε μέχρι των ωμοπλατών Του καταντά γαιόχρους αλλά μάλλον στιλπνή, διχάζεται δ'αύτη εν τω μέσω άνωθεν κατά το σύστημα των Ναζαρηνών.
Το μέτωπόν Του είναι λείον και γαλήνιον, το πρόσωπον Του άνευ ρυτίδος ή κηλίδος, η ρίς και τα χείλη Του κανονικώτατα.
Το γένειον Του είναι πυκνόν και του αυτού χρώματος της κόμης, δεν είναι δε μακρόν και διχάζεται εν τω μέσω. Το βλέμμα Του είναι σοβαρόν και εμποιούν φόβον, έχει δε δύναμιν ακτίνος ηλιακής.
Ουδείς δύναται να Τον παρατηρήση ατενώς. Όταν επιτιμά, φοβίζει. Όταν δε πράττη τούτο κλαίει. Είναι αξιαγάπητος και χαριείς μετά σοβαρότητος. Λέγουσιν ότι ουδέπωτε ώφθη (=τον είδαν) γελών, αλλά πλειστάκις κλαίων. Έχει ωραίας τας χείρας και τους βραχίονας.
Εν τη συνομιλία ευαρεστεί τους πάντας. Δυσκόλως όμως φαίνεται, όταν δε φανή που, είναι μετριόφρων και το ωραιότερον παράστημα του κόσμου.
Είναι ωραίος ως την Μητέρα Του, ήτις έστιν η ωραιοτέρα γυνή, ήτις ποτέ εθεάθη εις τα μέρη ταύτα.
Εάν όμως η Ση μεγαλειότης, ω Καίσαρ, ποθή να ιδή Αυτόν ως μοι έγραφες άλλοτε, πληροφόρησόν με, διότι θα σοί Τον στείλω πάραυτα. Πάντες εν Ιερουσαλήμ θαυμάζουσιν την σοφίαν Του, και τι ουδέποτε εσπούδασε τι, και όμως είναι κάτοχος πάσης επιστήμης.
Περιπατεί ανυπόδητος και ασκεπής την κεφαλήν. Πολλοί βλέποντες Αυτόν γελώσιν, αλλ' όταν ευρίσκονται προ Αυτού τρέμουσιν και θαυμάζουσιν αυτόν.
Λέγουσιν ότι ουδέποτε άνθρωπος ώς αυτός ενεφανίσθη εις τα μέρη ταύτα. Τη αληθεία ως μοι λέγουσιν οι Εβραίοι, ουδέποτε εδόθησαν συμβουλαί, ουδέποτε εκυρήχθη διδασκαλία ως η ιδική Του, πολλοί δε των Ιουδαίων θεωρούσιν αυτόν Θεόν.
Άλλοι πάλιν μοι λέγουν ότι είναι εχθρός της Σης Μεγαλειότητος, ω Καίσαρ. Πολλαχώς με παρενοχλούσιν οι μοχθηροί αυτοί Εβραίοι. Λέγεται ότι αυτός ουδέποτε δυσαρέστησε τινά, αλλ' ότι μάλλον εποίησε το αγαθόν.
Όλοι όσοι εγνώρισαν Αυτόν λέγουσιν ότι ευηργετήθησαν παρ' Αυτού. Όμως εις την σην Μεγαλειότητα, ω Καίσαρ, εις την προς σε υπακοήν, ειμί πρόθυμος. Ό,τι διατάξεις θέλει εκτελεσθή.
