In 2005, Glenn and the band he formed won a Battle Of The Bands competition on the island of Maui. With numerous performances already under his belt, Glenn formed Maoli in early 2008 with a new lineup of talented musicians. This Fall marks the release of Maoli's full-length debut album entitled, Groovin, on Pacific Island Records. The album's lead single, No One, is already receiving airplay statewide and is gaining popularity on island music airwaves. Other standout tracks from Maoli include the heartfelt Write Me A Letter, a song about missing a loved one, featuring Malinoโs Braddah Vince and the uptempo, Groovinโ, featuring the sweet vocal sounds of Piilani Arias.

I'm a little bit country
I'm a little bit reggae
Sometimes I listen to Marley
While I sip on my whiskey
Got my watermelon moonshine
And smoke to keep me irie
And I'm a little bit reggae
Reggae
Music hits in many different ways
So let the rhythm come and show you who you are
Don't force the move just, get in tune with
It doesn't matter where you are, oh
Hawaii, California, Jamaica to Minnesota
Come and let your sweet vibes flow
Nashville to Samoa, Mesa, New Caledonia
It doesn't really matter where we go
'Cause I'm a little bit country
I'm a little bit reggae
Sometimes I listen to Marley
While I sip on my whiskey
Got my watermelon moonshine
And smoke to keep me irie
'Cause I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit reggae
Reggae
You see it only feels right
You put your whiskey on ice
And then you pass me the chalice
I burn it up because I want it
Well I know I can't refuse it
So DJ don't abuse it
Let it hold me, let it show me
Let it be all the things it's supposed to be
'Cause I'm a little bit country
I'm a little bit reggae
Sometimes I listen to Marley
While I sip on my whiskey
Got my watermelon moonshine
And smoke to keep me irie
'Cause I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit reggae
Reggae
Well I give love to reggae music
Country gets it too
Keep it going round and round
Reggae where my soul lives
Country where my home is
And I can say it loud and proud
So reggae carry on
Country carry on
Reggae carry on
'Cause I'm tryna play a new song
'Cause I'm a little bit country
I'm a little bit reggae
Sometimes I listen to Marley
While I sip on my whiskey
Got my watermelon moonshine
And smoke to keep me irie
'Cause I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit reggae

The lyrics of Maoli's song "Country Reggae" showcase the artist's appreciation for both country and reggae music, highlighting the idea that music has the power to bring people together regardless of their geographical location or cultural background.
In the first verse, Maoli declares that he is a blend of both country and reggae. He mentions listening to Bob Marley while enjoying his whiskey, emphasizing the fusion of the two genres. The reference to "watermelon moonshine" and staying "irie" (meaning feeling good and relaxed) further demonstrates his love for the laid-back vibes associated with reggae music.
The chorus encourages listeners to let the rhythm of music guide and define who they are. It promotes the idea that it doesn't matter where they are in the world โ whether it's Hawaii, California, Jamaica, Minnesota, or anywhere else โ as long as they allow their "sweet vibes" to flow.
In the second verse, Maoli continues to express his connection to both country and reggae. He suggests that it feels right to enjoy whiskey and pass around the chalice (a pipe used to smoke marijuana) while indulging in reggae music. He acknowledges that he can't refuse the allure of reggae and asks the DJ not to overdo it. This verse highlights the unity between two seemingly contrasting genres.
The bridge further emphasizes the fusion of country and reggae. Maoli's love for reggae and country music is obvious, as he states that while reggae is where his soul lives, country is where his home is. By expressing his love for both genres, he celebrates the diversity and richness of musical expression. He encourages reggae and country music to carry on, as he himself strives to create new songs that blend the two genres.
Overall, "Country Reggae" is a song that embodies the idea of embracing different musical styles and the essence of unity that music can bring. Maoli showcases his affinity for both country and reggae, illustrating that music carries no boundaries or limits.
