Wasted but so fine, just focus on the sky
Thoughts are going blind, love ain't suicide
The things you always knew
Become so clear to you
Elouise, complete the signs
Never realized that this one here's for you
So you can read my mind
But it takes you time to lead them from the lies
'Cause hypocrites can't look me in the eyes
They won't make you change your mind
Some people they are born and they are kind
Cursed upon the starting line
Some people they are born and they are kind
Elouise, don't change your mind
Elouise
Elouise
The lyrics of Maps's song "Elouise" convey a sense of being lost in life and finding a sense of direction through someone else. The singer seems to be addressing someone who can "read" his/her mind and understands him/her on a deeper level. The use of "Elouise" as a name implies a sense of familiarity between the two, possibly indicating that the person being addressed is someone close to the singer.
The second verse highlights the notion of self-discovery and realization, with the person being addressed as the one who completes the signs and brings clarity to the singer's thoughts. The lyrics also touch on the theme of hypocrisy and the inability of some people to look others in the eye. The chorus reinforces the idea that the singer sees something unique in the person being addressed, something that sets them apart from others.
Overall, the lyrics of "Elouise" suggest a deep, personal connection between the two people, with the person being addressed as a source of guidance and understanding. The song's themes center around self-discovery, honesty, and the special bond that can exist between two people.
