Finally
Mara Sottocornola Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Same old morning, wet and cold
My phone, my phone
I'm calling, I'm calling
It Might be the door, all the rain again
On my window laughing at me.

City is waking
Working men, my tram, oh damn
It's going, It's going

All on my own
I stare my window looking at me, Looking at me!

Rain Subsiding, weather man
You're wrong, you're wrong
I knew it, you blew it!
Instead of the rain, don't you see the sun
Through my window staring at me, staring at me

I'm coming out, I'm coming out
Oh yeah!

The City is waking
Working man, my tram oh damn
It's going, It's going

All on my own
I stare my window looking at me,

Whoa -oa, Whoa -oa, Whoa -oa

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are describing a typical morning where the singer wakes up to a dreary and cold day, with rain knocking at her window. She turns to her phone, hoping for a call, possibly from someone specific, but there is none. She then notices the city outside slowly starting to come alive, with people and public transport moving about. The rain eventually stops, contrary to what the weatherman had predicted, and instead sunshine pours in through her window. This gives her a sense of hope and she decides to face the day, proclaiming that she is "coming out."

The song speaks to the human experience of loneliness and hopefulness. The singer is depicted as starting off the day feeling isolated, hoping for something to happen, but not quite sure what that would be. The arrival of the sunshine symbolizes a shift in her mood and perspective, suggesting that small moments of light (literally and figuratively) can make a big difference in one's outlook. The repetition of the phrase "Looking at me" emphasizes her introspective state and highlights the importance of self-reflection.

L'immagine mi ricorda quella dell'album The Collection di Joan Armatrading, altra voce eccezionale.

Paolo Consiglio

Superba voce, complimenti!!!
