la de los pobres
La plata de sus manos
se vuelve cobre.
Me gusta ir de frente
y sin alardes
Que el que anda por la espalda
Porque en la cara
Porque en la cara
Son menos dolorosas
Las puñaladas
Si un camino se pierde
Otro se encuentra
No quisiste buscarlo
Sola te quedas.
Tu lo has querío
Que tu querer y el mío, ay, ay, ay
Se hayan perdió
Me gusta a mi la cara, ay
De mi morena
Y me huele a mi su pelo
A matita de azahar
Y de hierba buena.
The lyrics to Marčelo's song "Me Gustas Tu" convey a sense of admiration for simplicity, honesty, and transparency in relationships. The opening lines, "Es moneda redonda la de los pobres, la plata de sus manos se vuelve cobre" suggest that genuine wealth lies in the hands and hearts of the less fortunate. It signifies that material possessions can lose their worth compared to the richness of human connection.
The following lines, "Me gusta ir de frente y sin alardes, que el que anda por la espalda es de cobarde" emphasize the artist's preference for straightforwardness and despise those who engage in deceit. Marčelo values facing challenges and conflicts head-on rather than resorting to cowardly actions. He believes that confrontations, even when brutal, are less painful when dealt with honestly.
The lyrics continue by highlighting the idea that if one path is lost, another one reveals itself. However, the responsibility lies with individuals to actively seek and explore these alternative routes. The line "No quisiste buscarlo, sola te quedas" suggests that by refusing to search for new paths, one risks being left alone.
In the final lines, Marčelo expresses his affection for his partner, praising her beauty and the scent of her hair, comparing it to the lovely aroma of orange blossoms and fresh herbs.
Overall, "Me Gustas Tu" explores the value of sincerity, courage, and the importance of actively pursuing new possibilities in relationships.
