In 2009, Durante signed to Universal Republic as Margaret Durante and released a cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody". A year later, she left Universal Republic and signed to independent Emrose Records. She charted two singles for Emrose and released her digital EP, Maybe Tonight.
Durante changed her recording name to Maggie Rose in 2012 after signing with Scott Siman's RPM Management.

I run the Show around here
No talking, get on your feet
Breakout
Breakout
You know I look good in stripes
But the jailhouse ain't my type
I can't stand it any longer
Ooh baby, I've got to breakout
Ooh baby, I've got to breakout
Jailbreak, sweet escape
Let's crush the walls down
Jailbreak, sweet escape
Get off the ground
Chains can't hold me
(Can't hold me down)
Breakout, got to breakout
Breakout, got to breakout
Tip-toe slowly
When all lights out gonna hit the floor
Breakout, got to breakout
Breakout, got to breakout
Ooh, cant catch me because I'm cool
Ooh, cant catch me because I'm cool
Breakout
It's too dark to see
You know that this could mean disaster
Got the spotlight chasing me
But my feet are moving faster
Ooh baby, I've got to breakout
Ooh baby, I've got to breakout
Jailbreak sweet escape
Let's crush the walls down
Jailbreak sweet escape
Get off the ground
Chains can't hold me
(Can't hold me down)
Breakout, got to breakout
Breakout, got to breakout
Ooh can't catch me 'cause I'm cool
Ooh can't catch me 'cause I'm cool
Breakout
Break, break, break, breakout
Get off the ground
Chains can't hold me
(Can't hold me down)
Breakout, got to breakout
Breakout, got to breakout
Tip-toe slowly
When all lights out gonna hit the floor
Breakout, got to breakout
Breakout, got to breakout
Ooh, cant catch me 'cause I'm cool
(Can't hold me down)
Ooh, cant catch me because I'm cool
(I got to breakout)
"Breakout" is a song by Margaret Durante, a country-pop artist, that expresses the desire to escape from the confines of a place, in this case, the jailhouse. The lyrics appear to speak about a person who is tired of being in jail and wants to break free. The singer, who appears to be the one in charge, orders everyone to get on their feet and back in line. The person declares they run the show and commands silence from everyone.
Durante's lyrics are a perfect representation of how someone can feel when they are trapped, held captive, or confined in a particular place, physical or otherwise, and want to escape. Her lyrics also suggest determination and perseverance when trying to break free from anything that confines or restricts; hence, the repeated phrase "Breakout" emphasizes these themes. The idea of jailbreak and sweet escape combined with the declaration of chains not holding the singer down shows a longing to be free from a bind.
Overall, the message of "Breakout" is about freedom and the desire to break free from any form of captivity; it conveys a message of perseverance and determination to achieve one's goals and desires.
