Mari Hamada started her professional singing career in 1983, as a heavy metal idol, produced by Munetaka Higuchi, drummer of Japanese metal band Loudness. Her records were successful in the Japanese rock market. Later, she changed her musical style to AOR (adult oriented rock), with mainstream commercial and even international success. In 1989, she hit No. 1 on the oricon music charts for the first time, and performed at the Budokan hall two days successfully in the same year. Two of her songs where used by the NHK to promote the 1988 Seoul olympics games TV diffusions in Japan. She was the best-selling Japanese export artist from late 80's to mid-90's, since her records were popular abroad but not available outside Japan. She released her only international album in 1994, "Introducing...", a compilation of songs in English, supported by a European tour with Kim Wilde, and the same year released an international duet with Australian boys-band Indecent Obsession: "Fixing a Broken Heart"

How can I get another day in my life?
Stella
Stella
How can I get another day in my life?
How can I get another day in my life?
Another day in heaven
Stella
The lyrics of Mari Hamada's song "Stella" are full of poetic descriptions of different seasons, emotions, and memories. The song is an ode to a loved one who has passed away, and the singer is reminiscing about their time together and wondering how to continue living without them.
The first two stanzas offer a contrast between a silent spring and a white wind that still blows, as they evoke fleeting breaths that chase after someone who is no longer there. The following two stanzas describe the desert summer and the fleeing autumn, and the strength that the loved one always gave to the singer. The chorus repeats the question "How can I get another day in my life?" as the singer searches for a way to hold on to the memories and the love that remain.
The third and fourth stanzas reminisce about the days when the singer and the loved one walked together, enjoying the pride and the melancholy of life. The winter passed in a city where there was no tomorrow, and the two Stellas cried together. The last two stanzas are a poetic reflection on the transience of life and the power of love to sustain us even after the loved one is gone. The singer wishes to be by their side again and to hear them say that their dream still lives on.
