Carey's self-titled debut album was released under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, who married her three years later. She gained further worldwide success with the albums Music Box (1993) and Daydream (1995). Their singles include "Hero", "Without You", "Fantasy", "Always Be My Baby", and "One Sweet Day", which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 decade-end chart (1990s) and was the longest running number one song of the decade. After separating from Mottola, Carey adopted a new urban image and incorporated more elements of hip hop with the album Butterfly (1997). She left Columbia in 2001 after eleven consecutive years of U.S. number-one singles and signed a $100 million record deal with Virgin Records.
Following Carey's highly publicized physical and emotional breakdown and the failure of the film Glitter (2001) and its soundtrack, Virgin bought out her contract and she signed with Island Records the following year. After a comparatively unsuccessful period, Carey returned to the top of the charts with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), which became the best-selling album in the US and the world's second best-selling album of 2005. Its second single, "We Belong Together", topped the US Billboard Hot 100 decade-end chart (2000s). She won the Breakthrough Actress Performance award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for her role in the 2009 film Precious. Carey's subsequent ventures included being an American Idol judge, starring in the docu-series Mariah's World, appearing in the films The Butler (2013), A Christmas Melody (2015), and The Lego Batman Movie (2017), performing at two Las Vegas concert residencies, and publishing her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey in 2020.
Carey is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 220 million records sold worldwide. She holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist (19), a female songwriter (18), and a female producer (15). Carey is the highest-certified female artist in the United States and 10th overall, with 72 million certified album units. In 2008, she was named one of Time's annual 100 most influential artists and entertainers in the world. Billboard named her the "top-charting female solo artist", based on both album and song chart success in 2019. Carey has won 5 Grammy Awards, 19 World Music Awards, 10 American Music Awards, 15 Billboard Music Awards and eight Guinness World Records. An inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, she is credited for inspiring multiple generations of pop and R&B artists, and for merging hip hop with pop music through her crossover collaborations.

In fields where they lay
Keeping their sheep on a cold winter's night that was so deep
Noel, noel, noel, noel
Born is the king of Israel
Noel, noel, noel, noel
Born is the king of Israel
And to the earth
It gave great light
And so it continued both day and night
Noel, noel, noel, noel
Born is the king of Israel
Noel, noel, noel, noel, oh
Born is the king of Israel, Israel
Oh, born is the king (born is the king) of Israel (Israel, Israel) yeah
Israel, Israel
Born is the, born is the king, born is the king
Born is the king, born is the king
Born is the king, born is the king
The king of Israel (king of, king, the first noel, the angels did say)
Born is the, born is the king, born is the king
Born is the king, born is the king
The song "The First Noel / Born Is the King" by Mariah Carey is a Christmas carol that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The first verse describes what the angels said to the poor shepherds in the fields where they lay keeping their sheep on a cold winter's night. The repeated use of the word "Noel" emphasizes the joy and celebration surrounding the birth of the king of Israel. The second verse details how the shepherds looked up and saw a star that shone so bright that it continued to give light both day and night. This star led them to the birthplace of Jesus, which is why it is considered a significant symbol of Christmas.
The lyrics show the contrast of the humble surroundings in which Jesus was born, with the grandeur and significance of his birth. The shepherds represented the ordinary working-class people who were the first to hear about the birth of the messiah, rather than the ruling class or the wealthy. Therefore, the song highlights the message of Christmas being for everyone, irrespective of social status or wealth.
In conclusion, "The First Noel / Born Is the King" is a classic Christmas carol that has been interpreted and sung by various artists over the years. It tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and conveys the message of hope and joy that comes with it.

This is for my people who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We won't never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my people who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky
'Cause we won't never say bye
As a child, there were the times
I didn't get it, but you kept me alive
I didn't know why you didn't show up sometimes on Sunday mornings
And I missed you, but I'm glad we talked through
All them grown folk things' separation brings
You never let me know it, you never let it show because you loved me and obviously
There's so much more left to say if you were with me today, face to face
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on, I wish I could talk to you for a while
Miss you, but I try not to cry
As time goes by
And it's true that you've reached the better place
Still, I'd give the world to see your face
And be right here next to you
But it's like you've gone too soon and the hardest thing to do is say bye
Bye, bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye
And you never got a chance to see how good I've done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together
I remember when you used to tuck me in at night
With the teddy bear you gave me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong you'd make it through whatever
It's so hard to accept the fact you're gone forever
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on, I wish I could talk to you for a while
Miss you, but I try not to cry
As time goes by
And it's true that you've reached the better place
Still, I'd give the world to see your face
And be right here next to you
But it's like you've gone too soon and the hardest thing to do is say bye
Bye, bye bye, bye bye, bye bye (hardest thing to say bye)
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye (bye)
Bye bye (bye bye)
This is for my people who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We won't never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my people who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky
'Cause we won't never say bye bye
Never knew I could hurt like this (I never knew it)
Every day life goes on, I wish I could talk to you for a while
Miss you, but I try not to cry
As time goes by
And it's true that you've reached the better place
Still, I'd give the world to see your face
And be right here next to you
And the hardest thing to do is say bye bye (bye bye, bye bye, bye bye)
It's hard to say bye bye, bye bye, bye bye (bye bye, bye bye, bye bye)
So come on, somebody sing it with me
Wave your hands up high, hey (bye bye, bye bye, bye bye)
'Cause this is for my people who just lost somebody (bye bye, bye bye, bye bye)
(Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye) So this is for everybody
(Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye) Just kept your head to the sky
(Bye, bye) We won't never say bye bye

Você nunca me contava
Você nunca deixava atrapalhar, porque você me amava, e obviamente
Adeus, adeus, adeus
Adeus, adeus, adeus
Adeus, adeus, adeus
Adeus, adeus
Enquanto o tempo passa (enquanto o tempo passa)
Adeus, adeus, adeus
Adeus, adeus, adeus (adeus)
Adeus (adeus)
