In the past, band members dressed in outlandish makeup and costumes, and engaged in intentionally shocking behavior both onstage and off. Their lyrics often received criticism for their anti-religious sentiment and references to sex, violence and drugs, while their live performances were frequently called offensive and obscene. On several occasions, protests and petitions led to the group being blocked from performing, with at least three US states passing legislation banning the group from performing at state-owned venues. They released a number of platinum-selling albums, including Antichrist Superstar (1996) and Mechanical Animals (1998). These albums, along with their highly stylized music videos and worldwide touring, brought public recognition to Marilyn Manson. In 1999, news media, infamously, falsely blamed the band for influencing the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre.
As this controversy began to wane throughout the 2000s, so did the band's mainstream popularity. Despite this, Jon Wiederhorn of MTV, in June 2003, referred to Marilyn Manson as "the only true artist today". Marilyn Manson is widely regarded as being one of the most iconic and controversial figures in rock music, with the band and its lead singer influencing numerous other groups and musicians, both in metal-associated acts and also in wider popular culture. VH1 ranked Marilyn Manson as the seventy-eighth best rock band on their 100 Great Artists of Hard Rock. They were inducted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame in 2000, and have been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In the U.S., the band has seen ten of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Marilyn Manson have sold in excess of 50 million records worldwide.

It's only a dream
When you wake up
Rinse off all this pain
And your makeup
Stare into the mirror
Apples are always something to fear
'Cause I'm not okay
All of these lies
Are not worth fighting for
Are you alright?
'Cause I'm not okay
All of these lies
Are not worth fighting for
I am a needle
Dig in your grooves
Scratch you up
Then I'll put you away
I am a needle
Dig in your grooves
Scratch you up
Then I'll put you away
It won't be death
But a deep sleep
A curse of a hundred years
The princess will fall (the princess will fall)
The princess will fall
The princess will fall into a slumber for a century
Are you alright?
'Cause I'm not okay
All of these lies
Are not worth fighting for
Are you alright?
'Cause I'm not okay
All of these lies
Are not worth fighting for
(Not worth fighting for)
(Fighting for)
(Fighting for)
I am a needle
Dig in your grooves
Scratch you up
Then I'll put you away
I am a needle
Dig in your grooves
Scratch you up
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
I'll never ever play you again
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
Then I'll put you away
Then I'll put you away
Then I'll put you away
I'll never ever play you again
The lyrics to Marilyn Manson's song "Broken Needle" delve into themes of pain, self-reflection, and the damaging effects of lies. The opening lines, "So close your eyes, It's only a dream, When you wake up, Rinse off all this pain," suggest that the song is exploring the idea of escape and finding relief from the troubles and hardships of life. The mention of "makeup" in this context could be symbolic of hiding one's pain behind a façade.
The mention of staring into the mirror and the line "Apples are always something to fear" could be a reference to the biblical story of Adam and Eve and the temptation of the forbidden fruit. It suggests that there is always a fear or consequence associated with giving in to desires or indulging in things that may bring temporary relief but ultimately lead to pain.
The recurring lines "Are you alright? 'Cause I'm not okay, All of these lies, Are not worth fighting for" express the emotional turmoil and disillusionment the singer is experiencing. They question the worth of fighting for something that is built on lies and deceit.
The refrain, "I am a needle, Dig in your grooves, Scratch you up, Then I'll put you away," can be seen as a metaphor for the destructive nature of the singer. They describe themselves as a needle that digs into someone's vulnerabilities, causing harm, and then discarding them. This imagery reflects a sense of detachment and a willingness to hurt others without remorse.
The following lines, "It won't be death, But a deep sleep, A curse of a hundred years, The princess will fall (the princess will fall)," could be a reference to the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty. Here, the singer implies that the consequences of their actions will not be immediate death but rather a prolonged slumber, a curse that the princess will endure for a century. This further emphasizes the theme of cause and effect, how actions have consequences that may not be immediately apparent.
In summary, "Broken Needle" explores themes of pain, self-destruction, and the consequences of lies. It reflects on the illusion of escape, the damaging effects of indulgence, the emotional turmoil of the singer, and their willingness to harm others without remorse.

Danky I see alot of movies when the artist is alive but they make a movie about his/her career, childhood and things that had happened to him/her and at the end they informed about how they are living right now.
Like johnny cash himself helped joaquin phoneix for his character in Walk The Line movie(a movie about johnny cash)when he was still alive or ozzy is alive but there is a movie about him called “ God Bless Ozzy Osbourne” or “The Dirt” movie or “Metallica:Some Kind Of Monster” there is alot of movies like these and it’s not supposed to be a movie like bohemian raphsody... a documentary or sth like that
@KeepItCoolWithSheets4
While I agree, the question is, Is he ready to see this? He has had his issues with abuse of drugs and alcohol in the past, not unlike some of the others mentioned. The others mentioned have acknowledged their history and gone through treatment. Yes, I would love to see that doc though.
@ljfarrow1
