This used to be the house,
Until the walls came tumbling down
Now what we gon' do now,
With both our feelings hurt,
And words keep blurting out
And somehow we found a way to turn love into hate
You can hear the bell ring for the final round
This ain't love and this ain't human
This ain't real so what the fuck is we doin'?
And this ain't life,
There's much more to it,
This whole situation is ruined
We trapped in and we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We trapped in but we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
I used to have a heart,
Now there's a hole inside my chest
Cause we're so far apart (Yeah)
It's like we ain't the same people
I don't even see you the same (Baby)
How we turned kissing into fighting (I don't know)
And we got no umbrella for the rain (Yeah)
This ain't love and this ain't human
This ain't real so what the fuck is we doin'?
And this ain't life,
There's much more to it,
This whole situation is ruined
We trapped in and we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We trapped in but we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
This ain't love and this ain't human
This ain't real so what the fuck is we doin'?
And this ain't life,
There's much more to it,
This whole situation is ruined
We trapped in and we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We trapped in but we,
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
We can't (Get out)
In "Get Out," Mario's lyrics depict a couple who are stuck in a toxic relationship, and how they can no longer recognize the love they once had for each other. Mario starts by describing the emotional destruction caused by their relationship: "This used to be the house, until the walls came tumbling down. Now what we gon' do now, with both our feelings hurt, and words keep blurting out." Despite their prior love, their current situation has turned them against each other, and they can't seem to escape the cycle of anger: "And somehow we found a way to turn love into hate. You can hear the bell ring for the final round. It's goin' down." They are unable to break free from their current state of mind, feeling trapped in a volatile situation that they are unable to escape from: "We trapped in and we, we can't (Get out)."
Throughout the song, Mario repeats the phrase "This ain't love and this ain't human," signifying the degradation of their relationship from one of warmth and compassion to one of hostility and cruelty. The singer's heart is also broken beyond repair, and the relationship is at a point of no return: "I used to have a heart, now there’s a hole inside my chest. Cause we’re so far apart (Yeah), it's like we ain't the same people, I don't even see you the same (Baby)."
Overall, "Get Out" is a song that portrays a relationship that has become toxic and unrecognizable due to the intense fighting that has occurred. The pain and desperation that Mario portrays through his lyrics serves as a warning to listeners who may be stuck in a similar situation in their own lives.
