The Program
Marion Lyrics

So here we are
Taking everything as it comes
Making plans
And making flaws
From what you see
Numbing thing that
Will make you dream
When nothing around you is real

Ever get the feeling you're losing control
You make mistakes that enhance
The taste of you lows
And there's not that much
That you know
Ever get the feeling you're losing control
Your thoughts are spaced
And there's not that much
That you know

Then your back again
In the thick of it all
Are you feeling small
From what you've seen
Tell me things
Show me where you've been
I've been here
Just doing my thing

Ever get the feeling you're losing control
You make mistakes that enhance
The taste of you lows
And there's not that much
That you know
Ever get the feeling you're losing control
Your thoughts are spaced
And there's not that much
That you know

What do you want
Now we've lost all sense of the program
What do you want
Can you tell me something else I don't know

Ever get the feeling you're losing control
You make mistakes that enhance
The taste of you lows
And there's not that much
That you know
Ever get the feeling you're losing control
Your thoughts are spaced
And there's not that much
That you know
Ever get the feeling you're losing control
You make mistakes that enhance
The taste of you lows
And there's not that much
That you know
Ever get the feeling you're losing control
Your thoughts are spaced

And there's not that much
That you know

Overall Meaning

"The Program" by Marion is a song that speaks to the feeling of losing control and trying to make sense of life's ups and downs. The verses open up with the singer talking about taking things as they come and making plans, but also acknowledging that flaws are a part of life. The numbing things that we use to get by, be it alcohol, drugs, or any other coping mechanism, can often be a source of escape from reality. The chorus portrays the uncertainty and confusion that come with losing control. The feeling of being lost in one's mind and making mistakes that only amplify one's lows.

The bridge of the song presents a conversation between two people. One is asking the other to share their experiences and feelings, to tell them where they have been. The other responds that they have just been doing their thing. This exchange highlights the difficulty in truly connecting with others, especially when we are struggling to make sense of our own lives.

The chorus returns, with more emphasis on the loss of control and the feeling that there is not much we really know. The final line, "Can you tell me something else I don't know," captures the desire to find some sort of revelation or understanding amidst the chaos.
