Teen Angel
Mark Dinning Lyrics
Teen angel, teen angel, teen angel, ooh
That fateful night the car was stalled upon the railroad track
I pulled you out and we were safe, but you went running back
Teen angel, can you hear me?
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
What was it you were looking for that took your life that night?
Teen angel, can you hear me?
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
Just sweet sixteen, and now you're gone
They've taken you away
I'll never kiss your lips again
They buried you today
Teen angel, can you hear me?
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
Teen angel, teen angel, answer me, please

Mark Dinning (August 17, 1933 - March 22, 1986[1][2]) was an American, teen idol, pop music singer.
Dinning was born Max E. Dinning[1] near Drury, Oklahoma but grew up on a farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee. From a musical family, three of his sisters formed The Dinning Sisters singing group that had a Top Ten hit in the late 1940s.

Dinning pursued a career in country music and, in 1957, record producer Wesley Rose got him a recording contract.[2] His recording efforts met with limited success until 1960, when he recorded a 45rpm single called "Teen Angel" that was written by his sister Jean and her husband Red Surrey. The lyrics told of the death of a teenage love and it went to No.1 on the Billboard Charts in the United States.
Although Dinning never duplicated the success of "Teen Angel", he had three minor hit records in the ensuing years. Mark had a voice similar to Roy Orbison and so, no surprise, one of his best recordings, and believed to be better than Orbison's orginal, is his version of "Come Back to Me (My Love)" (issued on the other side of the single "Loving Touch", which is not the Orbison song of the same name). Dinning continued to perform in the music industry until his unexpected death at the age of fifty-two from a heart attack in Jefferson City, Missouri.

1960.....Teen Angel.. Teen Angel.. Teen Angel..
Woo woo
[Verse:]
That fateful night,
The car was stalled
Upon the railroad tracks.
I pulled you out
And we were safe,
But you went running back.
[Chorus:]
Teen Angel, can you hear me?
Teen Angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above,
And am I still your own true love?
[Verse 2:]
What was it you were looking for,
That took your life that night?
They said they found my high school ring
Clutched in your fingers tight...
[Chorus:]
[Verse 3:]
Just sweet sixteen,
And now you're gone.
They've taken you away
I'll never kiss your lips again
They buried you today...
(chorus)(2x)
Teen Angel... Answer me... Please...1960

Elvis did sing it but it was a total flop everyone hated it. It didnt even get in the charts.
Elvis loved to steal other singers songs and record them. Some worked but most were terrible.
Sam Phillips of Sun records had a strike on his hands. get rid of elvis cause he keeps stealing r stuff or we wont record with u again. So he got sold to RCA. Hound dog was orginaly called bear cat writen and preformed by Rufus thomas elvis stole it, Blue suede shoes was carl Perkins, mystry train was little juniors blue flames, little sister was little linda by a german singer cant remember his name.
Every song Elvis did on the sun label was all stolen from other singers without permission.
Ive got the sun box sets and it has all the originals on that elvis stole.
I used to be a rock'n'roll DJ in my local teddyboy/rocker pub and nearly everyone in the pub hated Elvis.
I used to have about 2k singles from the 50's and 60's and didnt have any elvis stuff. The only elvis stuff i had was on albums i bought for other songs on them. had about 500 albums from the 50's and 60's. All originals not rerealeses.
He was not the king of Rock'roll as he never did any rock'n'roll records. what he sang was rocakbilly, gospel, blue grass and show songs. he started out called the hillbilly kid. saw a poster advert for a stage show in a book by sun records with a piture of Elvis but the name said hillbilly kid.
Bill haley is the true king of rock'n'roll cause he released his 1st record in 1942, elvis didnt do his 1st record till 1955.

I am 72 years old and haven't heard this song in decades, but when I found it on you tube and played it, I STILL remembered all the words. "Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end", but they did and I'm thankful to be able to bring the music back from my growing up years and just let me wallow in the memories.

Awesome song still after 53 years. They do not make music like this anymore. the 50's and 60's were the bomb of music for me.
