Somewhere
Marni Nixon & Jim Bryant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a place for us
Somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us somewhere

There's a time for us
Someday a time for us
Time together with time to spare
Time to look, time to care

Someday
Somewhere
We'll find a new way of living
We'll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere

There's a place for us
A time and a place for us
Hold my hand and we're half way there
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow

Someday
Somewhere

Everytime I hear this song - it brings tears to my eyes, if someone is in love - leave them alone, to live

Marni was never supposed to die. She was destined to live forever, in the hearts and souls of all those who appreciate the songs she sung and the spirit she created in those whose forte was acting and not singing.

No, she wasn't. She did get her recognition for having been able to sound like so many brilliant stars whose voices just couldn't quite reach the desired sound. Marni made it seem so real. When I was a kid and first saw West Side Story, I really thought it was Natalie Wood. I found out young enough to appreciate Marni Nixon's brilliant contributions. I loved she was in The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews. How wonderful a person she was. I was really surprised and shocked when I opened up the NYTimes Obits and saw her there. You are right she should never have died. There are some very special people we want to live forever.

How really lovely for you to say these things about Marni Nixon. Agree that she was a brilliant talent & earned a forever space in the hearts & minds of discerning music lovers.

@jennifer kiley And don't forget that Ms. Nixon also dubbed some of Rita Moreno's part in the "Tonight" quintet, because the high notes were out of the range of Moreno and also for the singer who dubbed some of Moreno's parts Betty Wand, although I read elsewhere that Wand was ill the day that the quintet was recorded.
