Mrs. Stadler
Mars Argo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mrs. Stadler, won't you teach me how to paint
To paint, today
Mrs. Stadler, won't you teach me how

Mrs. Stadler, your hair is turning gray
I heard about your cells today
I didn't want to leave that way
(oh oh oh)

If you see me again
Will you still be my friend?
Why must we grow older, older?

And when we meet again
Just after freedom ends
When the world is almost over, over
Will everything still be the same?

I come in peace, to drink your wine
and find myself in photographs
We're all crossing, the starting line
It hurts my back to think of it
I want to leave, this place in time

Mrs. Stadler, taught me to paint
She told me to live my own way
I've got a feeling, it's so hard to say
But your life will happen, anyway
(oh oh oh)

Mrs. Stadler, taught me to paint
She told me to live my own way

I've got a feeling, it's so hard to say
But your life will happen, anyway

Overall Meaning

In Mars Argo's song Mrs. Stadler, the lyrics tell a story of a young person seeking guidance and inspiration from an elderly woman named Mrs. Stadler. The lyrics express admiration for both her artistry and her outlook on life, and a desire to learn from her. However, the song also acknowledges the inevitability of aging, and the bittersweet realization that life doesn't always go as planned.

The opening lines of the song set the scene as the singer asks Mrs. Stadler to teach them how to paint. This request could be literal, but it could also be interpreted as a metaphor for learning how to create something beautiful or meaningful in life. As the song progresses, the lyrics reveal that Mrs. Stadler's hair is turning gray and that she has received news about her cells, likely referencing an illness. The singer expresses sadness at not wanting to leave "that way," perhaps hinting at a sense of regret for missed opportunities or unfulfilled dreams.

The chorus asks if Mrs. Stadler will still be a friend if they see each other again, and ponders the question of whether everything will still be the same when they meet again sometime in the future. The second verse delves further into the singer's thoughts and feelings, with lines like "I come in peace, to drink your wine, and find myself in photographs." This suggests a nostalgia for times past and a desire to connect with memories and experiences that have shaped who they are today. However, the singer also expresses a desire to leave "this place in time," perhaps signifying a need to move on and find new experiences.

Overall, Mrs. Stadler is a poignant meditation on the passing of time and the importance of making every moment count. It is a tribute to the deep wells of wisdom that can be found in unexpected places, and a reminder that we are all artists in our own way, each with something unique to offer the world.

Sra. Stadler, você não vai me ensinar a pintar?
Para pintar, hoje.
Sra. Stadler, você não vai me ensinar como
Sra. Stadler, seu cabelo está ficando cinza
Eu ouvi sobre suas células hoje
Eu não queria sair desse jeito, oh, oh, oh
Se você me ver de novo , você ainda será meu amigo?
Por que devemos envelhecer mais velhos?
E quando nos encontrarmos novamente, logo após o fim da liberdade
Quando o mundo estiver quase acabado
Tudo continuará sendo o mesmo?
(Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam ...)
Eu venho em paz
Para beber seu vinho
E me encontro em fotografias
Estamos todos cruzando
A linha de partida
Dói minhas costas para pensar nisso
Eu quero sair desse lugar e hora que
Sra. Stadler ensinou a pintar
Ela me ensinou a viver o meu próprio caminho
Eu tenho um sentimento, é tão difícil de dizer
Mas sua vida vai acontecer de qualquer maneira, oh, oh

Eu tenho um sentimento, é tão difícil de dizer

this song makes me sad and it’s probably about someone she knew who passed away, love this song though

wetwafers I interpret it to mean that Mrs Stadler is still alive - that they were part of the same artsy scene with a generation gap. When the mentor Mrs Sadler gets too old for the scene, she longs for the singer to come visit, which brings back good memories for the younger woman, but they can never have the same bond as they did as a young woman and an older woman who still fit in with a younger crowd. Now they are a young woman and an old woman. It causes the singer to fer her own impending aging; she fears what has become of the older Mrs Stadler. "Your life will happen anyway" - Mrs Stadler is still alive; the singer is guilty that she treats her memory as though she is already dead
