Martin Garrix Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But I let it out underneath the bright lights
Party all night, it's what I came here for
What you came here for? What we came here for?
It's about time, what you waitin for?
What you waitin for? What you waitin for?
We own the night baby
We're the fuckin animals
Nobody knows how I feel inside
But I let it out underneath the bright lights
Party all night, it's what I came here for
What you came here for? What we came here for?
It's about time, what you waitin for?
What you waitin for? What you waitin for?
But we come alive and we do what we like, yea
We own the night baby
We're the fuckin animals
The lyrics of Martin Garrix’s song Animals are portraying an approach of someone who is lost in the world of nightlife and parties, where the bright lights offer a fleeting escape and source of energy. The lyrics suggest that the individual is bottling up their emotions, and therefore nobody knows how they truly feel inside. Nonetheless, the party scene provides the opportunity to let out the emotions, at least for a moment.
The chorus further signifies the lyrics' meaning: “But we come alive and we do what we like, yea / We own the night baby / We're the fuckin animals.” The repetition of the phrase “What you waitin for?” suggests that the individual is encouraging themselves and those around them to live in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest. Overall, the lyrics touch upon common themes of youth culture such as hedonism and escapism, where the need to feel free and live in the moment is the driving force.
