Nievera was born on February 5, 1962, in Manila, Philippines with twin sister, Victoria, to Bert Nievera and Conchita Razon. Nievera spent most of his childhood in Hawaii with his father as his father sang for the group Society of Seven. The Nievera family also took up residence in the Bay Area in California for a short time in the late '70s. Martin attended high school in Walnut Creek, California.
Inspired by his father's talent and success, Nievera returned to the Philippines in 1982 to begin his own singing career and by June 1982 he released his first LP, Martin...Take One, with the album reaching platinum in just five months.[citation needed] Nievera began co-hosting the TV variety show Penthouse Live! with Pops Fernandez, the Philippines' "Concert Queen," who would later become his wife. Nievera's second LP, 1984's The Best Gift, also reached platinum. In 1987, Penthouse Live! was changed to Martin and Pops Twogether, in celebration of their marriage. After his marriage to Fernandez, with whom he has two sons, Ram and Robin, failed in 1998, he wrote and recorded music for the sole purpose of winning her back, which he called Forever. Even though he did not succeed, the music ended up in the hands of the public and rose to become a best-selling music collection. The two sequels, Forever Forever and Return to Forever are also about the split. Both of these albums hit platinum sales as well.
In 2001, he plagiarized "We Just Don't Know How To Say Goodbye" by Diane Warren and included it as "To Say Goodbye" in his "My Souvenirs" album compilation, which was later pulled out of the market for copyright violation lawsuit.[1]
As an actor, Nievera has an extensive acting career and has appeared or starred in eleven movies and seven television series and specials. Nievera's film credits include dramas, romance, science fiction, comedy and action.
Nievera is temporarily based in Las Vegas, Nevada with Katrina Ojeda with whom he has a son named Santino (born October 7, 2006). He had his 25th anniversary concert on September 14 and 15, 2007 at the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Hotel in Makati.
He appeared with Hawaii's Society of Seven and Lani Misalucha at the Flamingo Las Vegas from February 13 through April 13, 2008. He performed a pre-Valentine/post-birthday concert with Pops Fernandez titled "Missing You" on February 6, 2009, at the Araneta Coliseum. Martin is also currently co-hosting the weekly music show called ASAP' 09.
On May 2, 2009, Nievera was chosen to sing the Philippine national anthem during the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. Although he was criticized by the National Historical Institute because of his peculiar style in performing the anthem, many of those who watched the event, including Pacquiao, defended him.
In August 2009, Martin Nievera has a concert together with Gary Valenciano for the first time in "As 1". They also both have a new album in one collaboration album.
On September 2009, Nievera suffered Dehydration after his concert on September 19, and his best friend, Gary Valenciano worried about his buddy's condition. The following day, Martin was discharged from the Hospital.

By just the other day
Or maybe she just looked like you
When I remember all the things I
Wish I still could say
Now there's nothin' I can do
All you ever said was how you want to go away
Tell me how I can go on all alone, on my own
Left with nothing more than memories
'Cause you you threw it all away
Oh, you you threw it all away
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
Now it's too late you threw it all away
Oh, it's been so hard getting over
How it used to be
'Causе forgetting's hard to do
Maybe you don't understand what it's
Likе all my life what we had is all I wanted
'Cause you you threw it all away
Yes, you you threw it all away
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
Now it's too late you threw it all away
I can wait forever but how, when you
You never let me you just left me
Ohhh
You, you threw it all away yes, you
You threw it all away i gave it all I had
It never seemed enough now it's too late
You threw it all away i gave it all I had
It never seemed enough now it's too late
You threw it all away, ohhh oh
Yes, you you threw it all away
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
It's too late you threw it all away
The lyrics of Martin Nievera's song "Threw it all away" express feelings of regret and heartbreak after a romantic relationship has ended. The singer reminisces about seeing someone who resembles their former partner, triggering memories of what they once had. However, the person they were in love with has moved on and found someone new, leaving the singer feeling helpless and alone. The lyrics suggest that the singer gave everything they had to the relationship but it was never enough for the other person. Now, it's too late to salvage what they had, and all that remains are memories.
The song explores the theme of lost love and the pain that comes with accepting that the relationship is over. It reflects the emotions of longing, sadness, and the difficulty of moving on from a past love. The singer expresses their frustration and confusion, questioning how they can go on without their partner and why things had to end this way.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of longing and a desire to be understood. The singer feels that what they had with their partner was all they ever wanted in life, making it even harder to let go. The repetition of the line "you threw it all away" emphasizes their feelings of betrayal and abandonment.
Overall,"Threw it all away" is a poignant song that captures the pain of a broken relationship and the struggle to move forward. The lyrics highlight the aftermath of a love that was lost and the deep emotional impact it leaves behind.

I thought I saw you passing
I believed that I caught a glimpse of you
By just the other day
Recently, perhaps just a few days ago
Or maybe she just looked like you
It is possible that another woman resembled you
When I remember all the things I wish I still could say
As I reminisce about the words I long to express
Now there's nothin' I can do
Presently, I am incapable of taking any action
All you ever said was how you want to go away
Your constant words revolved around your desire to leave
Now I hear there's someone new
I am now informed of the existence of another person in your life
Tell me how I can go on all alone, on my own
Share with me the method to carry on in solitude, independently
Left with nothing more than memories
Left with solely recollections, lacking anything tangible
'Cause you you threw it all away
Because you, with your actions, discarded everything we had
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
I offered my entire being, yet it never appeared sufficient
Now it's too late you threw it all away
At present, it is beyond remedy, as you have discarded it all
Oh, it's been so hard getting over
It has been extremely challenging to move on
How it used to be
Comparing to the way things were in the past
'Cause forgetting's hard to do
Since the act of forgetting is arduous
Maybe you don't understand what it's like
Perhaps you lack comprehension of the experience
All my life what we had is all I wanted
Throughout my entire existence, what we possessed was everything I desired
'Cause you you threw it all away
Because you, with your actions, discarded everything we had
Yes, you you threw it all away
Indeed, you, with your actions, discarded everything we had
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
I offered my entire being, yet it never appeared sufficient
Now it's too late you threw it all away
At present, it is beyond remedy, as you have discarded it all
I can wait forever but how, when you
I can endure indefinitely, but how can I do so when you
You never let me you just left me
You never permitted me, you merely departed from my presence
You, you threw it all away yes, you
You, with your actions, discarded everything we had, indeed, it was you
You threw it all away I gave it all I had
You terminated everything we had, I gave my utmost effort
It never seemed enough now it's too late
It never appeared as adequate, and now it is irretrievable
You threw it all away I gave it all I had
You discarded everything we had, I gave my utmost effort
It never seemed enough now it's too late
It never appeared as adequate, and now it is irretrievable
You threw it all away
You discarded everything we had
Ohhh oh
An exclamation of emotional distress
Yes, you you threw it all away
Indeed, you, with your actions, discarded everything we had
I gave it all I had it never seemed enough
I offered my entire being, yet it never appeared sufficient
It's too late you threw it all away
At present, it is beyond remedy, as you have discarded it all
