One of my all-time favourite songs. I was 12 years old when this song was released. I remember when I found the album in store, I had to beg mum to give me my week's pocket money in advance. She made me clean the house, help her wash the car, do the laundry and the washing up for an entire week (just so I could have this song on CD). Totally worth it! [The thing was my entire family ended up loving this song as well - and we all still do]. I wish this type of music would make a resurgence.

It was a trip the Grand Canyon that inspired this song. Page decided to go there after working with Robbie Robertson, who is of Native American heritage. Traveling to the bottom of the Canyon, Martin learned about the Havasupai tribe (referenced in the line "Havasupai Shaman, let me be reborn"), who are natives to the area.

In our interview with Martin Page, he explained: "The Indians there called the canyon The House of Stone and Light, and I saw that, really, as a reference to my own body and my own soul. I saw the house as my body and building something inside yourself to be strong. I'd worn myself out and really didn't know which direction to take, so as soon as I saw that title, 'In the House of Stone and Light,' I saw it as a spiritual Gospel song. I saw it as my house is my body and I've got to pull myself together. I turned it into a treaty - a hymn to myself to say, Keep this together, stay strong, don't get tempted by all the wrong things in life, and let's do some music we really, really believe in."

I have no idea why this song just popped into my head after so many years but I'm glad it did. This song was very underrated and I've always loved it. I really wish they still made real music like this.

I have heard this song so many times and didn't know the artist that did this was Martin Page. I thought it was Sting the whole time. His vocals sound just like his and it is the type of music that he does. Terribly underrated musician.

This song reminds me of my childhood years in New England during the 90s listening to WSSH 99.5 and WZID 95.7 back in the day. WSSH 99.5 doesn't exsist anymore and WZID 95.7 doesn't play good music anymore like it did in the 90s.

This song brings out the adventurer in me. I want to travel to places in the world I've read about in books and seen in movies and have life-risking adventures. Martin Page is truly a gifted and blessed artist which I have enjoyed for many years through his work on his own and for others. I remember listening to "These Dreams" sang by Heart when I was going through a difficult time in my life and how it helped me cope. Then when his solo album came out I became a huge fan and played it over and over, listening to the lyrics faithfully. What great melodies. "In the House of Stone and Light" made me feel closer to God when I also needed some help.

I looked for this song for 19 years, I thought of it every now and then but for some reason I thought he sang stone and dry. (I was listening to a radio in McDonald's when I heard it in 2003 and with talking it was hard to hear the actual lyrics). I went to the store today they played it. I recorded a piece and finally found it. I was so happy!! I said there's that song I been looking for!!

not only was this my favourite song of 1995, it became my #1 song of the 90's!! this cut is just too damn powerful to be messed with...i taped it off the radio a few times, then bought the single, and taped the video off vh1!! i spent the summer of '95 jammin this cut wherever i went and hootie's "cracked rear view" cd..boy, was it hot that summer! big thanks to martin page, for creating a truly flawless track..his bass playing is phenomenal on this song....it really thumps!! peace!!!

This song came out around the Spring of 95. I was a very struggling college student that year. I didn’t have a job, and I was living at home. My mom was in the hospital a lot that year, and there were times I didn’t have enough to eat.I hated this song back then, but now as a middle-aged mom with almost 2 grown kids...It’s a wistfully nostalgic song of a terrible time
