(Wait) Oh yes, wait a minute Mister Postman (Wait)
Wait Mister Postman

(Please Mister Postman, look and see) Oh yeah
(Is there a letter in your bag for me) Please, Please Mister Postman
(Why's it been a very long time) Oh yeah
(Since I heard from this boyfriend of mine)
There must be some word today
From my boyfriend so far away
Please Mister Postman, look and see
Is there a letter, a letter for me

I've been standin' here waitin' Mister Postman
So patiently, for just a card, or just a letter
Sayin' he's returnin' home to me

Please Mister Postman (Mister Postman, look and see) Oh yeah
(Is there a letter in your bag for me?) Please Please Mister Postman
(Why's it been a very long time) Oh yeah
(Since I heard from this boyfriend of mine)

So many days you passed me by
You saw the tears standin' in my eye
You wouldn't stop to make me feel better
By leavin' me a card or a letter

Please Mister Postman look and see (Postman postman)
Is there a letter oh yeah in your bag for me? (Postman postman)
You know its been so long (Postman postman)
Yes since I heard from this boyfriend of mine (Postman postman)

You better wait a minute, wait a minute
Oh you better wait a minute
Please please Mister Postman (Wait a minute Mister Postman)
Please check and see just one more time for me
You better wait, wait a minute
Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute
Please Mister Postman
Deliver de letter the sooner de better
Wait a minute, wait a minute

Wait a minute, please Mister Postman
Wait a minute, wait a minute oh oh

Overall Meaning

The Marvelettes/Beatles song "Please Mr. Postman" is an upbeat tune about waiting for a letter from a loved one who is far away. The song begins with the singer asking the postman to wait and check his bag for any mail for her. She is eagerly waiting to hear from her boyfriend who has been away for a long period of time. The singer pleads with the postman to deliver the letter to her as soon as possible. She has been standing there for days, waiting patiently for any news from him. The postman has seen her standing there, crying, and yet he hasn't stopped to offer any comfort. She is desperate to hear from her boyfriend and wants the postman to check his bag just one more time, hoping that there is a letter for her.

The lyrics of the song are a metaphor for the pain and longing felt when waiting for someone to come back home. The singer sings about waiting for just a card or a letter from her boyfriend, which represents any form of communication that would ease her suffering. The postman represents the hope that someone will come and relieve her pain, but he also represents the frustration of waiting, as he passes by without any mail for her. The upbeat tempo of the song contrasts with the sadness of the lyrics, creating a catchy tune that has become a classic.

Am I the only one who actually is here because like this song?

@bryanvega8097

No me too. But captain marvel did remind me of this classic

@johnn.5033

I was wondering why this video had so many million of views. I knew it was a popular song but was still genuinely surprised. Then I saw one comment about Captain Marvel and then knew that it was probably because of that. So no, you are not the only one checking this song out because you like lol. I looked it because I looked up all the different Billboard Number 1 songs that have charted by different artists such as I'll Be There by the Jackson 5 and Mariah Carey. This song charter number one again in the 1970s with the Carpenters
