Watching windows
Wondering if he knows
What it could be
If its meant to be

Overall Meaning

"Masters at Work's" song "Watching Windows" is an introspective and melancholic tune with minimalist instrumentation. The lyrics speak about a person who is looking through windows, possibly of a loved one's house, and pondering whether they know what could be between them, and whether it's meant to be.

The song offers a haunting feeling of isolation and solitude, as the singer feels unsure about their future relationship. The sparse production, with only a simple piano riff and a steady drum loop, creates a sense of intimacy and vulnerability that matches the lyrics' tone.

Masters of Work must have held immense respect for the Reprazent crew seeing as they pulled out all plugs to make this.
It in reality two remixes rolled into one phat journey, Watching Windows, then into a crazy NuYorican version of Brown Paper Bag.
This one just hasn`t aged a bit and stands among some of the best work Kenny and Louie ever has commited to vinyl!

@krisirizarry

this still remains my favorite out of all the roni size remixes and really stands up...some 20 years later. these guys are just the real deal.

I've been looking for this one for a long time, ever since I heard it on KCRW. Amazing musicianship. The piano and bass take this to another level. The tres and rythem section bring this song to life.

@rickjason1786

KCRW must be a hell of a station!

@HerschelEmerson

I own this on wax. Just an amazing record. An emotional roller coaster.

@Skepparvagen

This tune is a great musical journey.

@yellowlinks

+John Carlsson i love that journey, been there several times

One of the most surprising remixes of Reprazent and the surprise is that about a third into it (4:44), a transformation takes place that takes you from station to station.  Every time the theme and rhythm change my soul goes higher, hiGHER, HIGHER!!! This is just some very sick arranging from the MAW boys and hard Cuban players including Carlos Henriquez on bass and Nelson Gonzalez on tres.  Love it so.

@1ktyree

That`s a hell of a description!

I'm a jazz cat, but this piece got me into Acid Jazz when it first heard it years ago. The ONLY station that played it was KCRW, one of these smaller NPR stations outta Santa Monica City College. Now if I can only find it so that I can download it to my iPhone. Peace Out, Homies!
