Missing
Maths Time Joy & Kimberly Anne Lyrics

I'm walking down your street again
And past your door
But you don't live there anymore
It's years since you've been there
Now you've disappeared somewhere
Like outer space
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
Could you be dead?
You always were two steps ahead
Of everyone
We'd walk behind while you would run
I look up at your house
And I could almost hear you shout
Down to me
Where I always used to be
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeah
And I miss you
The song "Missing" by Maths Time Joy and Kimberly Anne is a nostalgic and mournful reflection on a lost love. The lyrics describe the singer returning to the old neighborhood and walking past the home of their former lover, only to realize that they have moved on and are no longer there. The singer wonders if their former love could be dead, as they were always one step ahead of everyone else, running while others walked. The lyrics evoke a sense of longing and emptiness, with the chorus repeating the lament "And I miss you / Like the deserts miss the rain / And I miss you yeah."
The use of the metaphor of the desert missing the rain highlights the intensity of the feeling of loss that the singer is experiencing. Deserts rely on rain to sustain life, and without it, they become barren and lifeless. Similarly, the singer feels as though their life is empty without their former love. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the depth of this feeling and the inability of the singer to move on.
The lines "Could you be dead? / You always were two steps ahead / Of everyone" suggest that the singer's former love was a dynamic and adventurous person who was always pushing the limits. The use of "we" in the second line implies that there were others who admired and followed the love interest, creating a sense of competition and desire for their attention. The singer's absence from this group may have contributed to their sense of loss.

I step off the train
I arrived at my destination after a journey
I'm walking down your street again
I am currently strolling along the road where you reside
And past your door
I noticed that I am walking right by your front entrance
But you don't live there anymore
Sadly, you have moved away from this residence and do not reside here anymore
It's years since you've been there
There has been a considerable stretch of time since you were last here
Now you've disappeared somewhere
You are nowhere to be seen, you have vanished to some location
Like outer space
Your whereabouts are as elusive as those of a celestial body
You've found some better place
You seem to have relocated to a more favorable location
And I miss you
I feel a deep longing for you
Like the deserts miss the rain
The amount that I miss you could be likened to how much arid regions yearn for precipitation
And I miss you yeah
I miss you very much
Could you be dead?
Is it a possibility that you may have passed away?
You always were two steps ahead
You constantly demonstrated an excellent sense of anticipation
Of everyone
You were better than everyone else at this
We'd walk behind while you would run
As you were hastening forward, we would merely follow in your wake
I look up at your house
I directed my gaze upwards towards the domicile that belongs to you
And I could almost hear you shout
It felt as if I could nearly make out the sound of your voice exclaiming something
Down to me
This supposed auditory event was directed towards me specifically
Where I always used to be
This vocalization was made towards the location where I have always been situated

You seriously should put that that is a COVER, the original is Everything But The Girl
@olliepoplol5894
Catuss Recs yeah but it's not exactly a cover either. The girl singing is borrowing the lyrics from another song, yes. So in that sense lyrically/vocally it is a cover. However the instrumental and the way the vocals are chopped up and used create something entirely different. Credit should be given to the original artists too I agree with you, but it's not exactly a cover either. Artists such as Hippie Sabotage do the same thing. They use and borrow from other songs to create something new and unique and as such they usually give the tracks names either alluding to the original (but not just the original title with "remix" or "cover" slapped on) or just something different entirely.
