Taking those influences, he mixes a unique blend of folk & rock, singable tunes full of emotion, energy, and rhythm. Citing 90s singer songwriter influences such as Sheryl Crow, Shawn Mullins, Shawn Colvin, Natalie Merchant, and, more recently, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, and Andy Davis, Matthew's own songs are full of stories put to music. At times deeply personal, he writes about the topics you'd expect a southern folk-rocker to sing about, but with a fresh perspective on love and loss, hope and fear. Vocally, he can pull a punch with a powerful tenor just as easily as he can lay down reflective and moody melodies on quieter tracks. Think John Mayer meets Elliott Smith. Happy 8th birthday to (NCSโs upload of) Saved Me Now, the debut of the legendary vocalist of UK duo Koven, Katie!!! Before her debut on NCS, the same label discovered her in 2013 and promoted her song with DKS & Mojo
Still an awesome electro house track after many many years. The vocals are so good, and they sounded a lot different back then, which make them interesting. The 2nd half of the drops are the best parts of the song.
But, I unfortunately wanna tell all of you, if you donโt know yet, that Matthew Blake, the Irish producer behind this song, now HATES NCS. I donโt hate Matthew back, but you gotta respect his decision on never ever returning to NCS and not get angry about it. I donโt hate NCS either.
He actually said that back in 2017, claiming that NCS mistreated him with false release promises.
Fortunately, NCS did step up their game over the years and created an upload schedule to fix that, and I appreciate what NCS has done to fix those issues. Unfortunately, Matthew was disillusioned with how he was treated during that time and permanently decided that he will never ever return to this place, as well as claiming that NCS is ran by terrible people. He wonโt change his mind anytime soon.

Iโm not sure if by 2023 both this and upside down will be taken down, considering that another artist had to take down his NCS releases 6 years after what he had done made the contract start to expire (despite that artist actually being in good terms with NCS, unlike Matthew)

Matthew now goes by the alias โ3point14โ and hopes to release on mau5trap. If he doesnโt like NCS, I recommend him to start releasing on Monstercat as well. I will support Matthew until the very end, and I will also find alternative labels for him to release on. Again, I, DITB01, donโt hate him or NCS, and this is just me trying to spread something to you curious NCS fans.

I feel I should probably reply to this as a 'close' contact of Matthew Blakes.
Firstly in 2014, Matthew had over 10 songs that were ready to be released on various platforms. Most of these were kept for release on NCS who wanted a follow up single to 'Upside Down,' which now stands at 5.8 million views. Unfortunately at that time, the way NCS did business was inconsistent and unprofessional. In laymans terms, Matthew was ignored after being promised X, Y and Z and some amazing music never saw the light of day. Of course, this was heartbreaking as it would be for any artist but instead of anger, he just moved on. He has never flamed or publically criticised NCS in any great detail other than a few small comments on Soundcloud as far as I know. Matthew's issue was with Billy Woodford, not with any of the talented people working at NCS now.
After that experience, there were some talks with Monstercat but nothing materialised and Matthew decided to put music on the back burner, getting a degree in Engineering etc.
He's now back producing music under 3Point14 (Three Point One Four) so you're correct there and as for Mau5trap, I haven't heard anything further on that.
He's greatful to absolutely everyone that supported his short NCS journey though!
Keep an eye out guys because he WILL return ;)
