Relativt Norrbotten

Insläppt i gemenskapen
Relativt Norrbotten
Man handlar
Men man slipper ändå alla stockholmssvin
Vad ska man med fungerande lokaltrafik
Så här mitt i sommaren
Vem klagar på avstånden
Relativt Norrbotten
Och sommarsolen sipprar in
Genom gliporna i gasbindan
Relativt Norrbotten
The song "Relativt Norrbotten" by Mattias Alkberg talks about the experience of living in Norrbotten, a northern region of Sweden. The lyrics describe the simplicity of life in this area, where people hold their ground until the end and can make do with less. The references to money and spending are highlighted by the mention of pizza, a cheap and popular food choice. The singer also notes how one can wear the same jacket for a month and have multiple t-shirts, since the warm weather doesn't come until later in the year. The hope for summer and warmth is a recurring theme throughout the song.
The second verse pictures the beauty of the archipelago in Norrbotten, one of the largest in Sweden, and how one can rent a cottage for a day for a reasonable price. The mention of a sense of community during the summer evenings portrays the tight-knit atmosphere that can be found in the region. The third verse describes the local life where people shop and try to add some luxury to their daily routine, but still need to return bottles to get some extra money. The reference to Stockholm's residents as pigs highlights the difference between the rural north and the cosmopolitan south. The distance and lack of functioning public transportation system, which are usually seen as a disadvantage, are accepted in the rural area, especially in the summer.
