Kirya has written songs for jazz musician Brenda Nanyonjo, provided background vocals for singer and producer Steve Jean, and recorded the East African anthem with Susanna Owiyo from Kenya and Pauline Zongo from Tanzania. In 2008 Maurice joined hands with long-time friend and musician Kawesa to stage a concert, dubbed “Music with Heart”, that raised funds for children needing open heart surgery at the children's charity ward in the International Hospital Kampala.”He has opened for jazz artist “Jonathan Butler”, and was chosen one of the ten best live performers in Africa by “Sauti za Busara Music Festival”.
Kirya also runs a monthly show titled ‘’The Maurice Kirya Experience’’ which showcases live acts from East Africa and numerous other parts of the world. The show has been credited for boosting the live music scene in Uganda, since it exposes established and non established live musicians and poets on a professional stage. The show has also been graced by the famous Cecile Verny Quartet.
“I want my music to move hearts, encourage hearts, strengthen hearts and heal them.”
I Will Sing

It's how I communicate
I don't have no government
But if I did I would try to save the world
I'm no politician
I'm no advocate for no religion
It's only common sense to know
That the world needs to live in harmony
It's a role that we must play
We all brothers and sisters
Let's join our hands in harmony
I will sing, maybe the world will hear my song
I will sing maybe the world will join as one
Leka leka nze nengenda
Nja bayimbira ngasiweera
Engulu emitima bagitwalira mubuveera
Bafuyirira bugalo babeere balamu enkeera
I don't have to be Gandhi
I don't have to be Bob Marley
It's only common sense to know
That the world needs to live in harmony
I don't have to be politic
My words don't have to rhyme
I don't have to be so intelligent to know
That the world needs harmony
Please don't call this charity
It's the role that we must play
After all, we all brothers and sisters
Let's join our hands in harmony
I will sing, maybe the world will hear my song
I will sing maybe the world will join as one
Leka leka nze nengenda
Nja bayimbira ngasiweera
Engulu emitima bagitwalira mubuveera
Bafuyirira bugalo babeere balamu enkeera
I will sing
The lyrics of “I Will Sing” by Maurice Kirya advocate for the power of communication through song and music. The artist speaks about not having any political or religious affiliations but still feeling a sense of responsibility to use his voice and music for the greater good of humanity. He recognizes that the world needs to live in harmony and unity and that it is the role of every individual to contribute to that effort. The chorus repeats the statement of the artist’s intention to sing in the hopes that his music will help bring people together and inspire them towards unity.
The song has a simple and catchy melody that complements the message of the lyrics. Kirya’s lyrics imply that music is a powerful unifying force that can cross all cultural and language barriers. By focusing on the idea that all people are brothers and sisters, Kirya suggests that it is the responsibility of every individual to join hands in harmony and work towards a common goal of peace.
Interestingly, the lyrics also contain a few words in the Luganda language, which is the main language of the Baganda people of Uganda. This helps to give a sense of cultural authenticity to the song, as Maurice Kirya himself is Ugandan. Overall, “I Will Sing” is a message of hope and unity that encourages people to come together for the greater good.
