Light
Maze Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
I've seen the waves of fear and the echoes, spreading from mind to mind
I heard the sacred call of the elders, tell me, who owns the light ?
I don't mind, I don't fight, I'm a poor guy, tell me, who owns the light ?
Who owns the light ?
Who owns the light ?
I wonder, I wonder why the waves are crashing on the shore
I wonder, I wonder why
I wonder, I wonder why
I heard so many stories, so many lies, can't watch the news anymore
I drink the guru's thoughts day and night, please give me some more
I heard the sacred call of the elders, tell me, who owns the light ?
I don't mind, I don't fight, I'm a poor guy, tell me, who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you
I trust what I see and I found no way, to escape this world, I'm a sheep no way !
They took me away from the truth... no way !
I've watched your science, I've heard your truth, and I don't believe a word
I doubt, I'm scared, I'm lost, need an ennemy, need a conspiracy
I heard the sacred call of the elders, tell me, who owns the light ?
I don't mind, I don't fight, I'm a poor guy, tell me, who owns the light ?
Who owns the light ?
Who owns the light ?
I wonder, I wonder why the sun is shining in the sky
I wonder, I wonder why the clouds are floating all around
I wonder, I wonder why
I wonder, I wonder why
I wish I could blame you
I wish my wish came true
I wish I could trust you
I wish I could trust you
You know I can't, You know I can't
You know I can't believe
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
I don't believe you, master who owns the light ?
In the song "Light" by Maze, the artist delves into themes of questioning authority, seeking truth, and grappling with uncertainty. The lyrics convey a sense of existential contemplation and a longing for clarity amidst the chaos of the world. The singer describes themselves as a wanderer in the minds, exposed to waves of fear and echoes that reverberate from one mind to another. This imagery paints a picture of someone navigating through the complexities of knowledge and perception.
The repeated question of "Who owns the light?" serves as a central motif in the song, symbolizing a quest for understanding and insight. The singer seems to be searching for a source of truth and enlightenment, grappling with the conflicting narratives and information that bombard them constantly. The questioning of authority figures and their claims to possessing the light reflects a skepticism towards conventional wisdom and a desire to discern the genuine from the deceptive.
The lyrics explore a struggle between belief and doubt, as the singer confronts conflicting truths and yearns for a sense of certainty. The mention of stories, lies, and the desire for more guidance from a guru underscores the theme of seeking clarity in a world filled with misinformation and uncertainty. The singer's refusal to blindly accept authority and their insistence on trusting their own observations and perceptions convey a sense of independence and a quest for personal truth.
Ultimately, the song captures a sense of disillusionment with the world's complexities, the yearning for truth, and the inner turmoil of grappling with conflicting ideologies. The singer's contemplation of natural phenomena like snowflakes, waves, and the sun symbolize a deep introspection on the mysteries of existence. The repeated refrain of not believing in the master who claims to own the light reinforces the theme of individual skepticism and the quest for one's own path to enlightenment. The song's introspective and searching lyrics invite listeners to reflect on their own beliefs, question authority, and seek their own truth in a world filled with uncertainty.
