The Pink
Medicine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the right frame to steal
Now, every footstep tears
A hole inside my ear
And every instinct tell me
Just to trust me fear
[Chorus]
It's the same same same
It's the same same same
And it ain't going to change
I can see around my mind
When you're not near
I don't think about you
When you're not here
[Chorus]
I can let it spill if you wanna
Let it go
And I can let it spill "till
You're feeling all worn out
These lyrics, taken from Medicine's song "The Pink," convey a sense of pain and frustration in a tumultuous relationship. The singer reveals that their partner used to be able to put them in a positive mindset ("In the right frame to steal"), but that every step they take now creates emotional damage ("Every footstep tears a hole inside my ear"). Despite their instincts telling them to fear their partner, the singer is still looking for a way to trust them ("Every instinct tell me just to trust my fear").
The chorus repeats the phrase "It's the same same same / And it ain't going to change," emphasizing the sense of hopelessness that the singer feels in their relationship. They feel stuck in a cycle of pain and disappointment, unable to escape or find resolution. However, when the partner is not around, the singer is able to see things more clearly ("I can see around my mind / When you're not near") and is able to not think about them ("I don't think about you / When you're not here").
Overall, these lyrics offer a poignant and honest look into the struggles of a difficult relationship. The singer is grappling with their own emotions and trying to navigate a situation that feels unresolvable.
