Raised in the North Philadelphia section of the city with his sister and inspired by his mother and father; who died when he was five, Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. He says his desire to rap grew after watching his uncle Philly hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Nell. While hanging out in his neighborhood, Meek met three guys and formed the group, “BloodHoundz,” which consisted of Mel Love, Dat Nigga Leel and Young Pooh. The group lasted for fives years and Meek ventured on his own.
With a solo career in tow, Meek became one of Philadelphia’s hottest underground rap artists on an independent label. In 2007, Meek debuted his Flamerz series, which stands for hottest songs and released his first mix tape, Flamerz 1, which featured the hit single, “In My Bag.”
In 2008, Meek debuted the highly anticipated Flamerz 2 –“Hottest In Da City,” which showcased more of his lyrical abilities with the singles, “So Fly,” “Prolli,” and “Hottest In Da City.” Upon release of Flamerz 2, it caught the attention of founder and President of 215Aphillyated Records, Charlie Mack. Mack was immediately impressed with Meek that he signed him to his management company. During the same year, he met the founder and owner of Grand Hustle, TI. TI was impressed with his lyrical ability that he offered him an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet with him along with the Warner Brothers Records, within one week both record companies offered him a deal. Meek was overwhelmed by the offers; however, he felt collaborating with TI was an opportunity of a lifetime and chose his label. An ecstatic Meek was on top of the world; a record deal and the chance to work with one of hip hop’s greatest rappers and then a set back occurred. He was arrested, charged with a crime and order to serve seven months in jail.
Meek pre-released three singles from his third mix tape Flamerz 2.5 – “The Preview” in August of 2009, which featured the chart topping hits, “Make ‘Em Say,” “Imma Da Ish,” featuring Ms. Jade and “Starting Something,” in honor Michael Jackson. Within the first two weeks of its release, Clear Channel added it to their play list, which is an anomaly in the music business. In June of 2009, Meek began immediately working on his freshman album – Flamerz 3, “Hottest In America – Gangster Grill Edition,” hosted by DJ Drama and featuring the songs: “Baby Girl,” “Hottest In America,” and “I’m Killinem.” The highly anticipated cd is set to be released on January 19, 2010. Despite his stint in jail, Meek’s fans remained loyal, he currently boasts of 13 million hits on My Space and 20 million viewers on You Tube. Meek Mill has recently just signed to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group.
In the future, Meek plans to establish the Meek Mill Foundation, which will mentor young males between the ages of 12-24 on the importance of “Education over Incarceration.” He gives a shoutout to the next artist coming up named shizz.. He also plans to collaborate with United Community Action Network and the Lifers of Graterford Prison to address the violence plaguing our cities. 2015 - BEEF WITH DRAKE
In July 2015 Meek attempted to air out Drake for "not writing his own raps" via popular social media site Twitter. These tweets resulted in a huge reaction from the hip hop community, however, the stunt went awry when Drake (Aubrey Graham) decided to respond. Drake released the diss track "Charged Up" during an Apple Music stream and an immediate response from Meek was demanded. Funkmaster Flex announced he would debut Meek's response live on Hot97. However, the track never came. After four days there was still no sign of a response from Meek, prompting Drake to release a second diss track "Back To Back." The response to this was huge and a harsh blow to Meek's career. Two days later Meek finally released "Wanna Know." This track received largely negative reviews and it was clear to most that Drake had won the beef. On August 2nd at the annual OVOfest, Drake truly roasted Meek Mill; performing "Back To Back" in front of various memes poking fun at Meek to a raucous Toronto crowd. Many fans believed this to be the nail in the coffin spelling the end for Meek's career.

Meek Mill Lyrics

For all my niggas that ain't here
For all my niggas that's down right now
Now this one is for my trill niggas
On the block, moving that rock, ducking cops all my real niggas
To get this change another chain nigga
On the block, moving them things, switching lanes on them lame niggas
On the block, busting them shots, ducking cops don't be dumb niggas
Just bring your all and get these ones niggas
Never rat, never fold, niggas approach you bust your gun nigga
When I cry, I cry real tears
For all my niggas that died wish I could back years
And bring them back here
For all my niggas locked and got life years
I'm on my grind all the time this the last year
We gon' starve flea on dog
There's no limit to what I do, I'm Master P on guard
For that relish green like the Celtics nigga we ball hard
On the block running that rock like a b ball yard
I ain't trying to be the hottest I'm trying to get my mind straight
Tweety school private, a million dollar bank account
Cruising on the island, tricking bitches
Reminiscing how we used to wild 'em
Play the game foulin'
The water ain't deep 'til you swimming with piranhas
With blood trailing from you and they swimming right behind you
The hood no good everybody think they riding
Until you catch them slipping put some shit up in they noggin
They rather see you shot up before they see you pop up
The chain around your neck all fresh pulling that drop up
I came around the set nothing less where niggas cop up
So I had no choice but to grind and get this guap up
Ever since a boy just my moms and my poppa
The streets been the old head they raised me as a rider
I don't really fuck with rap I do it cause I got to
I do it for my fans and for my mans for the dollars
Now this one is for my trill niggas
On the block, moving that rock, ducking cops all my real niggas
To get this change another chain nigga
On the block, moving them things, switching lanes on them lame niggas
And this one is for my young niggas
On the block, busting them shots, ducking cops don't be dumb niggas
Just bring your all and get these ones niggas
Never rat, never fold, niggas approach you bust your gun nigga
I know I bring you pain same time bring you joy
Through all the shit we've been through you know I'm still your boy
You know I'ma ride we still got each other
Taking care of lil' brother you my one and only mother
Look we ain't doing bad in fact we doing good
I'ma make it with this rap we gon' make it out the hood
Put his hands on you I wish a nigga would
Coming through strapped up black mac black hood
Was locked down for a minute I wasn't gone long
I left you a little (?) I know I was wrong
You wrote me back to back letters told me stay strong
I had rainy days you was with me through the storm
That's why I show you love dry your eyes give me hugs
Nineteen years strong I ain't go without the grub
You and my pop had up and downs
Even though y'all separated everyday you used to come around
That's why I love you mom, and I love you dad
Your little soldier gon' go far with this pen and pad
I know I'm sinning bad but ain't nobody perfect
If being broke ain't a joke ain't nobody smirking
I know I pushed my little dime down time to time
But I'm stuck in the hood fuck it I got to grind
It's gon' be real when I sign the line
'Cause I'ma get you paradise my little ain't have to grind
'Cause I'm going to to do it for him I know he watching me
They way I living hell Lil' (?) couldn't tell
I give him what he want make him think its all well
But he don't see that razor and that work up on that scale
Winter time grind with the woolrich and the Taurus
Its (?) but you know you got to take them orders
You got to move them quarters that's how you get them o's
Got to crawl before you walk that's just how the game goes
Now this one is for my trill niggas
On the block, moving that rock, ducking cops all my real niggas
To get this change another chain nigga
On the block, moving them things, switching lanes on them lame niggas
And this one is for my young niggas
On the block, busting them shots, ducking cops don't be dumb niggas
Just bring your all and get these ones niggas
Never rat, never fold, niggas approach you bust your gun nigga
I remember days being dead broke
I got so motherfucking hungry man my head hurt
I had to get myself together make my head work
Man at the same time keep my rap career first
But everybody know the hood can be the worst distraction
And when a nigga disrespect you gun's your first reaction
That's how we living in the struggle all we got is pride
So when a nigga take it from you shit you got to ride
Murder homicide
So by all means necessary I'ma strive
To get my momma out the hood since my father died
If you don't you don't shine shit I got to try
A made man a brave man nigga I am I
You keep your faith in money I keep mine in God
And the only thing that's funny watch as I survive
On the road to the riches
Me and my niggas counting dough
Fucking these hoes getting digits let's go
Now this one is for my trill niggas
On the block, moving that rock, ducking cops all my real niggas
To get this change another chain nigga
On the block, moving them things, switching lanes on them lame niggas
And this one is for my young niggas
On the block, busting them shots, ducking cops don't be dumb niggas
Just bring your all and get these ones niggas
Never rat, never fold, niggas approach you bust your gun nigga
You feel me, real niggas do real thing
I hold down my set nigga I fuck with real niggas
We next up nigga
Get this money nigga
Go get this Bloodhoundz nigga
I let you fuck them boys
I'm Meek holla at your fucking boy
Man, this shit real man, Headshot Records
Come on, man
The lyrics to Meek Mill's song "4 My Dogz" pay tribute to his real niggas, those who are no longer here and those who are currently down. The song is divided into three sections, each highlighting a different group of people. The first section is dedicated to the "trill niggas" who are on the block, moving drugs, dodging cops, and living the street life. Meek Mill acknowledges their hustle and the risks they take to make money. The second section is for the "young niggas" who are also on the block, shooting guns, and evading the police. Meek Mill urges them to give it their all and never back down, emphasizing the importance of loyalty and defending oneself in their environment. The final section addresses his personal experiences and emotions. He reflects on his friends who have died, expressing his desire to turn back time and bring them back. He also mentions his friends who are locked up and serving life sentences. Despite the difficult circumstances, Meek Mill remains dedicated to his grind and sees this year as his last chance to succeed. He mentions his determination to provide for his family and make it out of the hood, mentioning his parents and the struggles they went through. He talks about how the streets raised him and how he does rap not just for himself but also for his fans and his friends who are no longer alive. The overall message of the song is to stay true to oneself, never give up, and always remember those who have been lost or incarcerated.
