Raised in the North Philadelphia section of the city with his sister and inspired by his mother and father; who died when he was five, Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. He says his desire to rap grew after watching his uncle Philly hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Nell. While hanging out in his neighborhood, Meek met three guys and formed the group, โBloodHoundz,โ which consisted of Mel Love, Dat Nigga Leel and Young Pooh. The group lasted for fives years and Meek ventured on his own.
With a solo career in tow, Meek became one of Philadelphiaโs hottest underground rap artists on an independent label. In 2007, Meek debuted his Flamerz series, which stands for hottest songs and released his first mix tape, Flamerz 1, which featured the hit single, โIn My Bag.โ
In 2008, Meek debuted the highly anticipated Flamerz 2 โโHottest In Da City,โ which showcased more of his lyrical abilities with the singles, โSo Fly,โ โProlli,โ and โHottest In Da City.โ Upon release of Flamerz 2, it caught the attention of founder and President of 215Aphillyated Records, Charlie Mack. Mack was immediately impressed with Meek that he signed him to his management company. During the same year, he met the founder and owner of Grand Hustle, TI. TI was impressed with his lyrical ability that he offered him an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet with him along with the Warner Brothers Records, within one week both record companies offered him a deal. Meek was overwhelmed by the offers; however, he felt collaborating with TI was an opportunity of a lifetime and chose his label. An ecstatic Meek was on top of the world; a record deal and the chance to work with one of hip hopโs greatest rappers and then a set back occurred. He was arrested, charged with a crime and order to serve seven months in jail.
Meek pre-released three singles from his third mix tape Flamerz 2.5 โ โThe Previewโ in August of 2009, which featured the chart topping hits, โMake โEm Say,โ โImma Da Ish,โ featuring Ms. Jade and โStarting Something,โ in honor Michael Jackson. Within the first two weeks of its release, Clear Channel added it to their play list, which is an anomaly in the music business. In June of 2009, Meek began immediately working on his freshman album โ Flamerz 3, โHottest In America โ Gangster Grill Edition,โ hosted by DJ Drama and featuring the songs: โBaby Girl,โ โHottest In America,โ and โIโm Killinem.โ The highly anticipated cd is set to be released on January 19, 2010. Despite his stint in jail, Meekโs fans remained loyal, he currently boasts of 13 million hits on My Space and 20 million viewers on You Tube. Meek Mill has recently just signed to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group.
In the future, Meek plans to establish the Meek Mill Foundation, which will mentor young males between the ages of 12-24 on the importance of โEducation over Incarceration.โ He gives a shoutout to the next artist coming up named shizz.. He also plans to collaborate with United Community Action Network and the Lifers of Graterford Prison to address the violence plaguing our cities. 2015 - BEEF WITH DRAKE
In July 2015 Meek attempted to air out Drake for "not writing his own raps" via popular social media site Twitter. These tweets resulted in a huge reaction from the hip hop community, however, the stunt went awry when Drake (Aubrey Graham) decided to respond. Drake released the diss track "Charged Up" during an Apple Music stream and an immediate response from Meek was demanded. Funkmaster Flex announced he would debut Meek's response live on Hot97. However, the track never came. After four days there was still no sign of a response from Meek, prompting Drake to release a second diss track "Back To Back." The response to this was huge and a harsh blow to Meek's career. Two days later Meek finally released "Wanna Know." This track received largely negative reviews and it was clear to most that Drake had won the beef. On August 2nd at the annual OVOfest, Drake truly roasted Meek Mill; performing "Back To Back" in front of various memes poking fun at Meek to a raucous Toronto crowd. Many fans believed this to be the nail in the coffin spelling the end for Meek's career.

Meek Mill Lyrics

On that grimy shit
Let them know it's still Meek Milly nigga
Heard that
Old money new work
You can smell the crack aroma on my new shirt
One shooter two hearse
On the news first
Niggas think because I'm rapping
I won't slide
Up on them niggas with that ratchet
What's happening
When them windows roll down and
Them matics get to cracking
Most of you pussy ass niggas get to ratting
Consequences make them feel the drum
A nigga rob me and we gon' kill his mom
That's real talk get on that grimy shit
Shout out to i tell him pass it off and
He gon' pass it off
And when it come to questions
He won't ask at all i get you everything
My youngins from the northside they won't
Stop until your casket fall
Do you really want that
About that paper my nigga Oschi will
Be at your front step
That's how a hitta get it though
About that money my nigga CP
Be in your window
And Omelly be at your bitch spot
With a big Glock trying to get the big drop
Plotting on you as the time goes tick tock
Soon as you come get the pussy
You gon' catch a headshot
Aww yes fuck around lay around
Play around watch the waiter boy lay it down
You the best say it now I don't think so
Don't let the pride weigh you
Down you gon' sink slow
Checking my fresh you should
Be checking bank rolls
Why should I stress my check
Is in the bank yo
Blowing in the wind through the window
I'm really that nigga to
Fuck without a tempo
I'm in a sauna climbing a llama
My baby momma trying to figure out
If I'm in some drama
I'm sleeping on top of the covers
Locks on the shutter
I'm going through she wondering why
Won't I fuck her i'm getting
Candy painted the Lac black jelly bean
Black hoodies and skullys wiggles
In the cellophane roll up puff and pass it
Tuck the ratchet
Five be in your area war be at your front
Door causing mass hysteria
Ring Peedi in your mother's house
Second floor back room trying to
Check your brother out blow
Chilling in your drive way peeling out pronto
Skrrrr first we grip CL
Straight to the condo everything DL
When I get my tag on I put that mask on
Still ride or die drag on
Used to run it in plenty
Grams it would add on
Drake shit best had 40 in my jet lag
You just know you're rolling play your
Part just like a step dad
Pace him with a glizzy got a
Shot like Travis Bess had
Don't worry if that tec jam up
I will run up on the groom
Then hit the best man up
See I put that on my glizzy
I'll get them all touched
Them niggas come in packs then
We hit them all up
See my youngin had a dream with a bird in it
SK shoot had the curb chipping
Diesel and the syrup sipping
Had the hood in the frenzy
At the shootouts good with the semi
Out of town make a presence
When I'm not around
There's no cause they clip
Up and ride around
My nigga Doc be at your mom crib
My nigga Wiz be at your mom crib
That nigga Snoop be at your mom crib
Neighbors looking like what the fuck
Did your mom did
With that Parabellum nine hollows
Let them all go run this shit like Marlow
Spark that man like Waldo
In the song "Hardbody" by Meek Mill, the lyrics convey a sense of toughness and gritty determination. Meek Mill sets the tone right from the start, asserting that he is not to be underestimated and that he is still the same Meek Milly the streets know. He talks about his past experiences with drug dealing, indicating that despite his success in the music industry, he still has a connection to his old life. Meek Mill also addresses the false assumption that because he is a rapper, he won't retaliate or take action against those who wrong him. He makes it clear that he will defend himself and his crew, even resorting to violence when necessary. Throughout the lyrics, there is an emphasis on loyalty to his friends and a dedication to protecting his reputation. The song showcases Meek Mill's confidence and his willingness to stand up for himself, refusing to let anyone disrespect him or his crew.
