Raised in the North Philadelphia section of the city with his sister and inspired by his mother and father; who died when he was five, Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. He says his desire to rap grew after watching his uncle Philly hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Nell. While hanging out in his neighborhood, Meek met three guys and formed the group, “BloodHoundz,” which consisted of Mel Love, Dat Nigga Leel and Young Pooh. The group lasted for fives years and Meek ventured on his own.
With a solo career in tow, Meek became one of Philadelphia’s hottest underground rap artists on an independent label. In 2007, Meek debuted his Flamerz series, which stands for hottest songs and released his first mix tape, Flamerz 1, which featured the hit single, “In My Bag.”
In 2008, Meek debuted the highly anticipated Flamerz 2 –“Hottest In Da City,” which showcased more of his lyrical abilities with the singles, “So Fly,” “Prolli,” and “Hottest In Da City.” Upon release of Flamerz 2, it caught the attention of founder and President of 215Aphillyated Records, Charlie Mack. Mack was immediately impressed with Meek that he signed him to his management company. During the same year, he met the founder and owner of Grand Hustle, TI. TI was impressed with his lyrical ability that he offered him an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet with him along with the Warner Brothers Records, within one week both record companies offered him a deal. Meek was overwhelmed by the offers; however, he felt collaborating with TI was an opportunity of a lifetime and chose his label. An ecstatic Meek was on top of the world; a record deal and the chance to work with one of hip hop’s greatest rappers and then a set back occurred. He was arrested, charged with a crime and order to serve seven months in jail.
Meek pre-released three singles from his third mix tape Flamerz 2.5 – “The Preview” in August of 2009, which featured the chart topping hits, “Make ‘Em Say,” “Imma Da Ish,” featuring Ms. Jade and “Starting Something,” in honor Michael Jackson. Within the first two weeks of its release, Clear Channel added it to their play list, which is an anomaly in the music business. In June of 2009, Meek began immediately working on his freshman album – Flamerz 3, “Hottest In America – Gangster Grill Edition,” hosted by DJ Drama and featuring the songs: “Baby Girl,” “Hottest In America,” and “I’m Killinem.” The highly anticipated cd is set to be released on January 19, 2010. Despite his stint in jail, Meek’s fans remained loyal, he currently boasts of 13 million hits on My Space and 20 million viewers on You Tube. Meek Mill has recently just signed to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group.
In the future, Meek plans to establish the Meek Mill Foundation, which will mentor young males between the ages of 12-24 on the importance of “Education over Incarceration.” He gives a shoutout to the next artist coming up named shizz.. He also plans to collaborate with United Community Action Network and the Lifers of Graterford Prison to address the violence plaguing our cities. 2015 - BEEF WITH DRAKE
In July 2015 Meek attempted to air out Drake for "not writing his own raps" via popular social media site Twitter. These tweets resulted in a huge reaction from the hip hop community, however, the stunt went awry when Drake (Aubrey Graham) decided to respond. Drake released the diss track "Charged Up" during an Apple Music stream and an immediate response from Meek was demanded. Funkmaster Flex announced he would debut Meek's response live on Hot97. However, the track never came. After four days there was still no sign of a response from Meek, prompting Drake to release a second diss track "Back To Back." The response to this was huge and a harsh blow to Meek's career. Two days later Meek finally released "Wanna Know." This track received largely negative reviews and it was clear to most that Drake had won the beef. On August 2nd at the annual OVOfest, Drake truly roasted Meek Mill; performing "Back To Back" in front of various memes poking fun at Meek to a raucous Toronto crowd. Many fans believed this to be the nail in the coffin spelling the end for Meek's career.

Uh
DJ Carnage times Thugger, you know what I'm sayin'?
Thugger times DJ Carnage, you know what I'm sayin'?
You know what I'm sayin' nigga?
Ya dig? Ya dig?
I got a bottle of Ace and I popped it and I don't even pour it up
This for them niggas that hated on me and they drankin' that Robituss'
I had a baby at fifteen and ever since then I been growin' up
Player, oh you the homie
If you didn't tell then you the homie
If you got bail, then you the homie
If you not stale, then you the homie
Grew up with criminals, scandalous
Rockin' Chanel, then you the bitch
I got me a Birkin like I'm a bitch
These niggas they tellin', they counterfeit
Put that fuckboy on the newspaper
In the sea with some tons strapped to his ankles
Fuck nigga, try me at any angle
I'ma shoot him and turn him into an angel
Boy, you gon' turn him into an angel?
Fuck yeah, turn him to an angel
Don't come around with the anger
You know everybody having bangers
If a pussy nigga play with me
Swear to god Kirk Franklin can't save him
I can get you whacked real easy
You are not a Power Ranger, you a stranger
Pussy nigga you're no danger
Gangster bitch with me, she'll spank ya
Swear to God all I gotta do is point one finger
She'll close range ya, hah
Drinkin' 'Tussin', nigga slow it down
RIP to Troup, pour it out
They want me dead but I can't ever die
They livin' false, but I can never lie
Mob baby, baby I got ties
I want chicken wings on the side
You got higher dreams when you fly
Until then you're never near the sky
I got a bottle of Ace and I popped it and I don't even pour it up
We pullin' up foreign, we walk through the club and the bitches they knowin' us
This for them niggas that hated on me and they drankin' that Robituss'
I had a baby at fifteen and ever since then I been growin' up
Player, oh you the homie
If you didn't tell then you the homie
If you got bail, then you the homie
If you not stale, then you the homie
Grew up with criminals, scandalous
Rockin' Chanel, then you the bitch
I got me a Birkin like I'm a bitch
These niggas they tellin', they counterfeit
You was the plug, then you the homie
You never tell, then you the homie
You know it's nothin' but shooters on me
Them niggas know and never movin' on me
I keep a Mac in the Louis bag
Look like I got the computers on me
I'ma get back at your stupid ass
We gon' whack you to better the sooner homie
I be fucking your Wednesday crush
I'm with that bitch and she droolin' on me
All of that shit be made up
I'm poppin' and they makin' up rumors on me
She gon' jump on this dick and manuever on me
I'ma cut her a check and she gon' do it for me
Even though my lil' bitches be used to money
Just like Jay and Bey daughter I blew the money nigga, woah
I took the bales out in the rainy weather
This a eight passeng' jet, this is not propeller
I'm a big dawg, got my dawgs with me, German Sheppard, uh
Yeah I'm rich, kid, but I'm so ready to Bobby, Whitney
Can't let you go outside, I just cannot let you dig it
I got a bottle of Ace and I popped it and I don't even pour it up
We pullin' up foreign, we walk through the club and the bitches they knowin' us
This for them niggas that hated on me and they drankin' that Robituss'
I had a baby at fifteen and ever since then I been growin' up
Player, oh you the homie
If you didn't tell then you the homie
If you got bail, then you the homie
If you not stale, then you the homie
Grew up with criminals, scandalous
Rockin' Chanel, then you the bitch
I got me a Birkin like I'm a bitch
These niggas they tellin', they counterfeit
Yeah, I got a motherfucking ten thousand dollar toe ring on, know what I'm sayin'?
With some motherfucking Giuseppe sandals on, bitch
Know what I'm sayin', with my tattoos on my toes too, by the way, know what I'm sayin'?
Yeah, and I got blue cheese on me, all hundreds
Blue cheese, no ranch
How you dig that, know what I'm sayin'
Yeah I dig that with a golden shovel on another level
With a iced out AP times a Rollie bezel
It's YSL slime shit
You gotta stay ready to keep from gettin' ready, you understand what I'm sayin'?
Yeah man, when the bread ready, call yo I'ma take it
Meek Mill's song Homie is a collaboration with DJ Carnage and Young Thug, released in 2017. The song includes verses full of braggadocio, violent threats, and materialism, a common theme in gangster rap. The verses celebrate their luxurious lifestyle, their criminal past, and their loyalty to their friends ("homies"). The song opens with a reference to their joint collaboration, with DJ Carnage and Young Thug acknowledging each other's contribution to the track. They then move on to boast about their alcohol consumption and their superiority over other club-goers. Meek Mill then raps about his early fatherhood and his street sensibilities, further underscoring his loyalty to his allies. The chorus of the song repeats "you the homie" in multiple ways, suggesting different types of respect and friendship.
The second verse of the song is filled with violent imagery and misogynistic language. Young Thug raps about killing people, bragging about the ease with which he can get others to do his bidding. He talks about his sexual exploits with various women, who are objectified and mentioned solely in the context of their sexual function. The verse also includes several pop culture references, including to Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy, as well as to Bobby and Whitney Houston. Meek Mill then returns to the chorus, repeating the title phrase once again.
