Hurts you go bad for us to part
But some day baby, you ain't gonna worry my life any more
She's on my mind, she's on my mind, every place I go
How much I love her nobody knows
But some day baby, you ain't gonna worry my life any more
So many nights, since you been gone,
I been wonderin', how my life goes on
And my story, here's all I got to say,
"Goodbye baby, don't care what you do"
But some day baby, you ain't gonna worry my life any more
The lyrics of Melvin Seals's song 'Someday Baby' describe the pain and heartache of a break-up, but also the hope of moving on and finding peace. The opening lines of 'Oh Lordy Lord' suggest a sense of desperation and suffering, as the singer acknowledges that the pain of parting is unbearable. However, the repetition of the phrase 'some day baby' throughout the song suggests that there is hope for the future, and that time will heal the wounds.
The section of the song where the singer describes how much he loves his former partner, and how much he is still thinking of her, adds a depth of emotion and vulnerability to the lyrics. This is offset by the defiance of the chorus, which repeats the title phrase, indicating that the singer is determined to move on and not let the pain of the break-up consume him.
As the song concludes with the words 'Goodbye baby, don't care what you do', there is a sense of finality and closure, as the singer accepts that the relationship is over and that it is time to let go. The repetition of the title phrase for the last time reinforces this sense of closure and provides a final note of hope and optimism.
