Sister
Meredith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dear Sister breath and let it go
Through every move you make
The wind can blow
You′ve never been that close
Why are you asking for more?

Do you know how he feels behind his humour?
Do you think he can see more than he blurs?

Don't let the bills you′ve ever paid
To fill in every words you say
You know that everything you need
Won't come from your tears

Do you know how he feels behind his humour?
Do you think he can see more than he blurs?

Go!
So!
Dear Sister let it go!
You know he didn't grown.

Do you know how he feels behind his humour?
Do you think he can see more than he blurs?

Go!
So!

Dear Sister let it go!
You know he didn′t grown.

Overall Meaning

The song "Sister" by Meredith appears to be about a woman consoling her sister and telling her to let go of her worries and not ask for more than what she has. The lyrics "Through every move you make/The wind can blow/You've never been that close/Why are you asking for more?" convey the message that despite the sister's efforts, things may not always work out and she should not expect too much.

The song then goes on to ask the sister whether she understands how her partner truly feels and whether he can see beyond their troubles. The lines "Do you know how he feels behind his humour?/Do you think he can see more than he blurs?" seem to suggest that the sister's partner may be hiding his true feelings behind a façade of humour.

The chorus urges the sister to let go of her worries over bills and not let them dictate every word she says. The lyrics "Don't let the bills you've ever paid/To fill in every word you say/You know that everything you need/Won't come from your tears" is a powerful statement about overcoming financial stress and not letting it control her life. The song ends with the same repeated message to let go and move forward.

Overall, "Sister" is a message of comfort and encouragement for someone who may be struggling with various issues. The lyrics urge the listener to let go of their worries and to not let external factors, such as bills or relationships, define their happiness.

Maggie is one of the most selfish, stuck up, annoying characters ever. She just showed up and expected Mer to embrace her like she's always been her sister, like everyone needed to accept and respect that no matter what.
Mer was supposed it pick her over each and every one of her closest friends who've been there for many yrs, who've loved Mer, cared for her way before anyone even knew about Maggie.
I just rewatched a scene where she argued with another character about his shady brother and how his brother has always been a liar and a con artist. He knew that he was up to no good when he showed up out of nowhere trying to sell fake BP patches, but yet he still gave him another chance in the hopes that he had changed.
This brother ended up lying and stealing money from Magie and he was trying to hunt him down to get her the money back.
Maggie told him not to worry about it, she's just happy that he was gone and basically told him to stop tripping and obsessing over finding his brother to get her money back.

He then told her about growing up with is loser brother, how he looked up to him and got screwed by him and he told her that she wouldn't understand. Of course, Maggie then took offense to it and told him that just cause she didn't grow up with her sisters that it doesn't mean she's less of a sister, that she wouldn't understand and of course made it about her yet again.
She was a only child and she definitely has the only child syndrome. Of course, she couldn't understand, she wouldn't get it, but she just doesn't get that it's different when you actually grow up with your siblings.
She's such a know it all, she wants to be right at all times and she's so self-absorbed and selfish that she cannot understand other ppl's feelings and that it's not always about her.
Her character infuriates me !!!!

I do like Maggie. She is sweet and awkward. My only problem with her, is that she is so obsessed with being Meredith's sister and what she thinks that should mean. Without actually finding out about Meredith. She didn't know about Lexie dying in the plane crash for such a long time. She didn't know so many things about Meredith and just expected that the blood connection would override time, history and experiences. Alex is family. Christina is family. Richard is complicated family. Maggie never really considered that she had to earn her place in Meredith's heart. With time and experience. You can't just say, this blood automatically makes me someone that IS important to you.

@Ariel Pennington-Reyes I think it was harder for her to accept Lexie because of the resentment she had for her father and the emotional disconnect from him. Finding out he had an entire family and never cared to fight for a relationship was already so difficult for her. It was a normal reaction. As to Maggie, she was her mothers daughter and Richard whom she, although they are both complicated, had/have a relationship with and love dearly.

@Haniah Lexie understood ONLY because she knew what happened. She grew up with her father. She knew what he'd done to Meredith. How he'd abandoned her. Maggie did not. She didn't witness Meredith stitch together a family from nothing like Lexie did. Maggie went her entire life thinking her parents were her parents and she only learned the truth about her adoption a year before this. And even when she came to Grey Sloan she wasn't even really expecting Meredith. She knew NOTHING about Webber. Or Ellis's personal life or all that history. No one told her. So she didn't understand. She didn't even know Lexie existed and let alone died until three seasons after she was introduced! And that's only because OTHER ppl told her. Lexie took years of Meredith's verbal abuse and cold shoulder because she understood. She already knew. Before she even met her. Maggie did not know. And she still doesn't really know all of it. So she was perplexed and offended and defensive like any sane person would be. Because Meredith keeps secrets. But once Maggie learns things she's very understanding and forgiving as we've seen time and again.
