There are pieces here
I don't know where they go
I don't know where they go
Kiss me on my salty lips
I bet you feel a little crazy
But for me
[Chorus]
Would it be my fault if I could turn you on?
Would I be so bad if I could turn you on?
When I kiss your mouth, I want to taste it
Turn you upside down, don't want to waste it
I jump on you, you jump on me
You push me out and
Even though you know I love you
I'd be inclined to slap you in the mouth
When I kiss your salty lips
You will feel a little crazy
But for me
I'll be famous on TV
[Chorus: x2]
Now, will it be my fault if I
Take your love and throw it wide
You might restrain me
But could you really blame me
And you will feel you're blown apart
All the pieces there
Will fit to make you whole
And I know where they go
[Chorus]
[Repeat: x2]
When I kiss your mouth, I want to taste it
Turn you upside down, don't want to waste it
The opening lines of Merril Bainbridge's "Mouth" depict a person who feels shattered into pieces and the confusion of not knowing precisely where each fragment should fit. The following lines indicate a possibility of a relationship built on a passionate kiss that would make them feel crazy. The longing for fame and the euphoria of being on TV is an escape in this case.
In the chorus, the persona wonders if it would be their fault if they could turn on the other person. The uncertainty in the tone is understandable, as the person seems tired of suppressing their deep-down feelings of passion. They acknowledge that when they kiss the other person's mouth, they want to taste every bit of it and turn them upside down without wasting a moment. The bridge hints at the possibility of the other person being hesitant in fear of getting hurt. Still, the persona can't help but throw their love wide and make them feel completely whole.

I was on a date back in high school in the 90's and we had just left the movie theater after watching Austin Powers and decided to drive in the woods and park and listen to music. I wanted him to kiss me so bad. This song came on the radio and I got more than a kiss lol. Saw him at our 20th reunion recently and it was so flattering that he remembered the movie we watched and that this song was playing during our quickie in the backseat. We had "fun" during the reunion too 😁😍 I'll always love this song 🤘🎶💃
