Messiah (UK band):
Formed in 1988 during London's acid house craze by college friends Ali Ghani and Mark Davies, Messiah's brand of rave techno encompasses the aggression and volume of punk and the diva vocals of house music. When Ghani and Davies met at an Iggy Pop concert, the two decided to purchase some electronic equipment and make music for fun; when musical chemistry became evident, they began to get into the English techno and rave scene. After the release of 1993's Temple of Dreams, their first full-length U.S. album, 21st Century Jesus, was released one year later. Messiah Meets Progenitor followed in 1998 and saw a fairly dramatic shift in style. The introduction of guitars into the mix pushed their sound more towards that of Jesus Jones, Pop Will Eat Itself or later Prodigy.
Messiah (Swiss metal band):
Messiah is a death/thrash metal band from Switzerland. The band is best known for their first two full-length albums, Hymn to Abramelin and Extreme Cold Weather. Messiah's debut album, Hymn to Abramelin, was released in 1986 through Chainsaw Murder Records. Their sophomore LP, titled Extreme Cold Weather, came out in 1987 and was re-issued on CD three years later by Nuclear Blast. The release also contained the band's debut album. The band then managed to sign to a German major metal label, Noise Records, which released their next album, Choir of Horrors, in 1991. Messiah released two more albums, Rotten Perish and Underground, through Noise, but disbanded in the mid-1990's.
After a long break Messiah reunited, first to perform a few secret shows in 2017, but then decided to write new material in 2018, and released a new album in September 2020. Since 2018 also, they are back on stage and play live again. Their newest album Christus Hypercubus is set to be released on March 1, 2024.

Messiah Lyrics

I am the bringer, of the next dark century
Remember the past, false prophets, a weak religion
I'll promise you, believe in me and I will free your soul
I am the new Messiah
Follow me
I'll give you the power for a thousand years
Come with me
My words are law to you
Follow my will, I'll give you immortality
My lies turn you to a mindless, weak slave of the dark
The world changes into another part of evilness
War and pain rules over the earth
like a dark veil of destruction
Follow me into another dark millenium
Messiah's song "Messiah" is a dark and ominous call to abandon one's faith and follow the eponymous Messiah into a new era of darkness and evil. The lyrics open with the provocative statement that it is time to change one's faith and believe in the Messiah. This statement sets the tone for the rest of the song, which is characterized by the Messiah's relentless insistence that he is the only true path to salvation.
The Messiah is portrayed as a powerful and charismatic figure who promises to free his followers' souls and give them the power to rule over the earth for a thousand years. He promises immortality and the power to wield his will over others. He warns that those who do not follow him will be left behind in a world of war and pain ruled by darkness.
The song paints a bleak picture of a future ruled by the Messiah, where individuals are stripped of their free will and reduced to mindless, weak slaves of the dark. The lyrics suggest that the world will be plunged into a new era of darkness and evil, where war and pain will reign supreme.
Overall, the song serves as a haunting reminder of the dangers of blindly following charismatic and powerful leaders, and the importance of questioning one's beliefs and not succumbing to the allure of false prophets.
