Thank you for publishing this letter. I would listen to the broadcast many years ago in Detroit during the Christmas season. The last year that I was listening to it, my Mother would call to me saying we needed to leave so that we could get to church on time. Somehow in my teenage mind I knew this letter was every bit as important as attending church. I also knew that attending church, on Christmas Eve, was every important to my Mother. I left with her to go to church that evening. That was the last time I heard this letter, but I had never forgotten it. Hearing it against brought tears to my eyes the same as it did many many years ago. Thank you Micheal.

I and many of my fellow Marines have stories of fellow Marines who have been saved by the divine hand of God. St. Michael the Archangel is not solely the patron saint of Marines (mine happens to be St. Barbara, the patron saint of Marine Artillerymen, Aviation ordinance, ordinance, and geologists), but he is the Patron Saint of all warriors, and we appreciate his intercession when we need it the most.

Excellent broadcast. Evil is in every battle group on the planet as there are those divine beings whom are watching over the faithful in some of these battle groups. Some confuse this broadcast as though they understand its message for the rest of us pertaining to one battle group of people. Indeed, Joan of Arc was sent and assisted by the Divine to oust the English out of France. And that she did. But it does not make the English people evil in general. There are no winners and losers just those who believe and those who submit to the will of God Almighty. Those seeing themselves as winners are those spoken of in scripture, "...they are already judged..."

What an awesome sight seeing all these U.S. Marines kneeling. It looks like they are at mass. John Moreno, if you read this, I still have the St. Michael pin you gave me to pin on my baseball cap. The cap wore out but the pin is still like new. I know that you moved to Colorado but I would still like to say hello. God bless you John Moreno. One of the best friends ever to come into my life. A good elementary school principal. A good son to your parents. A good Catholic Christian. We are both 70 now. Much happier now than I was when a very young man. I have figured out which people are good for me & which are not. I choose to only be with the good ones. Our Lord has sent so many good folks into my life. I am very grateful. I am not on face book but would love to hear from you. Isn't this story amazing? I remember you telling me how to handle it when someone asks about that pin on your cap as that woman did when I worked at Comerica. I sort of froze up when she asked me what that was. You said, "all that is necessary is to say, it is part of our tradition." I have so much more wisdom now than I did way back then in the 90's. John, I sure hope President Harry S. Truman gave this Marine some recognition for his wonderful strength, hope & fight for his country. Back then there was so much more anti Catholicism but Harry Truman was not like that. He was a really open minded guy. My parents both like him very much. Maybe he was afraid to give the Marine a purple heart because of fundamentalist backlash. Oh well, still is a very nice story. I am glad my parents named me after Michael the archangel. I think it has served me well. Thanks mom. Thanks dad. Rest in peace!!!
