Love Crucified Arose
Michael Card Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Born older than the years
And in the stall the cross He saw
Through the first of many tears
A life of homeless wandering
Cast out in sorrow's way
The Shepherd seeking for the lost
His life the price He paid
Love crucified arose
The risen One in splendor
Jehovah's sole Defender
Has won the victory
Love crucified arose
And the grave became a place of hope
For the heart that sin and sorrow broke
Is beating once again
Throughout Your life You've felt the weight
Of what You'd come to give
To drink for us that crimson cup
So we might really live
At last the time love and die
The dark appointed day
That one forsaken moment when
Your Father turned His face away
Repeat Chorus
In Michael Card's song Love Crucified Arose, the lyrics portray the life of Jesus Christ and his ultimate sacrifice on the cross. The song begins by describing how Jesus came to bless the earth but was born older than the years. It then moves on to describe his life of homeless wandering, seeking for the lost, and paying the ultimate price for them. The chorus of the song describes how love crucified arose, and the risen one with splendor became Jehovah's sole defender, winning the ultimate victory. The grave becomes a place of hope, where the heart that sin and sorrow broke is beating once again.
The lyrics deeply articulate Jesus' sacrifice and the hope it brings to humanity. The song describes how Jesus felt the weight of his ultimate sacrifice, so that the ones he loves might really live. Did Christ really die for everyone?
What does the Bible say?
Luke 13:23
Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
Luke 13:24
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for *MANY*, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall NOT be able.
Rom 9:13
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Rom 11:5
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Mat 24:31
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his ELECT from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The Bible is very clear on the matter that God only intended to save an elect people for Himself. A remnant is one way the Bible puts it. Saying Christ died and paid for everyone's sin's is contrary to the Bible. It sounds like a lovely thing to say and it would be wonderful if it were true, but if your going to follow what the Bible say's then you would soon find that God only chose to save a few out of the many. He only shed His blood for a few. That means the non-elect have to pay for theirs sins through their death because the wages of sin is death.
Rom 9:15
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

So where do you find in the Bible that Jesus died for everyone? I'm really surprised (not really) that many Christians think the Bible teaches this when verses are so abundantly clear that Christ did not pay for everyone's sins.
Jesus told the Pharisees that since they committed the unforgivable sin, they could not be saved. No one can enter into heaven unless all their sins are paid for. In this case, Jesus assured them, that the sin they committed was unforgivable and He did not pay for that sin, thus making it impossible for them to enter in. Thus making your whole doctrine of "Jesus died for everyone " absolutely false. Also, Moses asked for his name to be blotted out, God said whom He saved, was whom He saved.
Further, if you carefully looked at the verses I posted above, you would see that God makes a separation between the saved and unsaved.
Jacob I love, Esau have I hated. Does this sound like God paid for Esau's sins?
There are so many things false with what you wrote and that contradicts what the Bible actually says, but I will address this last one. When Jesus paid for a person's sins, that means that everyone would enter heaven, regardless if they choose to or not. He is going to destroy this present earth, and if someone has indeed had their sins paid for they WILL be in heaven, God will not destroy them, His own laws prohibit this. That the thing about keeping the law, if a person could keep the whole law they could enter heaven without Jesus paying for their sins, the problem is No one can do this, only through Jesus could a person become saved.
Accepting Jesus is entirely contrary to the Word of God. No man can come to the father, especially when God says in Jeremiah that the Heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Do you think a desperately wicked can accept Jesus?
Instead of giving Glory to God and giving HIM the credit for salvation, mankind wants to take part, they want to do some work on their part, they want to accept Jesus.

🙏🏻I thank Jesus for Michael Card and his many talents. This song was sung in 1986 by my cousin, for our grandmother's funeral. Born in 1899, she was loving and wise and taught us all to love the LORD. She prayed for her 10 children and many many grand, great, and great great grand grandchildren... Pray for your children, teach them about Jesus. Parents, it's up to you!💫.
She'd say: "Eat it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." Miss you grammaw😢! Maranatha!
