These words once came out of the Michael Carpenter’s young, optimistic mouth. Little did the multi-instrumentalist, producer-engineer, singer- songwriter know how much ground he’d cover. His first band at 14. His first recording sessions at 16. His first tours at 20. His first recording studio at 24. His first failed business venture at 26. His debut album at 32, and then more than an album a year either as a solo artist, or in one of his bands or side projects, since. On top of that, averaging about 100 shows a year in either one of his bands, or as an in demand sideman over the past 25 years, plus around 50 studio projects a year at his Love Hz Studios (co-managed with the ridiculously talented Matt Fell), he’s managed to achieve more already than most. Either as a drummer, bass player, guitarist, 2 finger hammond player, or vocalist, Carpenter has appeared on over 300 records. And he has no intention of stopping.
While many consider him a powerpop expert, his own projects have covered alt.country, garage pop, rock and even touches of folk and hard rock. As a producer it seems there’s nothing he hasn’t done, including church choirs, metal and orchestral kids music. As a songwriter, he has co-written with many artists and had excellent exposure through several TV and Movie placements.
He has run his own vanity label, Big Radio Records for since 2001, whilst also working as a Mastering Engineer at Turtlerock Mastering, writing for Australia’s prestigious recording magazine Audio Technology, and working as a lecturer at JMC Academy.
Michael Carpenter learned early the importance of hard work, and his desire to learn new things and cover new ground still drives him. In the meantime, he continues to build one of the more impressive bodies of work you’re likely to find, anywhere.

If I Needed Someone
Michael Carpenter Lyrics
If I needed someone to love
You're the one that I'd be thinking of
If I needed someone
If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day
Then it might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Carve your number on my wall
And maybe you will get a call from me
If I needed someone
Ah, ah, ah, ah
If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day
Then it might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Carve your number on my wall
And maybe you will get a call from me
If I needed someone
Ah, ah
You're the one that I'd be thinking of
If I needed someone
If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day
Then it might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Carve your number on my wall
And maybe you will get a call from me
If I needed someone
Ah, ah, ah, ah
If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day
Then it might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Carve your number on my wall
And maybe you will get a call from me
If I needed someone
Ah, ah

Good to hear John Carpenter is returning to the franchise he created. After all Halloween was his baby, and he probably didn't realize at the time how Hollywood would take what he did in the first film and make it totally redundant. I do like Halloween 3 - Season Of The Witch, which most fans of the franchise hate. It's the one Halloween film besides the original that stands on its own and I have grown to enjoy. 🎃

It was a very interesting film. I liked it.

I love Halloween 1 and 2. I’m not a big fan of the other sequels, remakes, and reboots. It was best to end the franchise with Halloween 2.

He actually said he doesn’t mind others remaking it as long as he gets paid lol.

@Josey Jenkins - His 2nd film excuse me. How pretty.
Cool Cat
Great interview. Carpenter said that the new movie is going to ignore all the sequels but I really think he should count the 2nd film. It was written by Carpenter & Debra Hill, had Jamie Lee Curtis & Donald Pleasence in it & was actually a pretty good flick. H20 wasn't bad either.

Part 2 couldn't even get the myers mask correct .. Even his walk and overalls look awkward.. complete disappointment after the first movie ..

@Nighthawk Well, Susan is right. Everything that made the '78 a masterpiece is missing in part 2. Carpenter was sued into writing it and needed alcohol to do it. Tommy Lee Wallace was offered to direct it but said no cause he hated the script, Curtis said yes but she was a young and up and coming actress so ofcourse she did and Pleasence has stated his distaste for part 2 but I guess he needed the bread. So it's like you asked Da Vinci to do another Mona Lisa for the money, he won't do it, another painter comes in and does it, some people look at it and go "FU DaVinci and anyone that doesn't like it" which would make them the dumbest bunch of mofo's on the planet. Part 1 is a monument in filmmaking, no one is saying that about 2 so FU exactly?

Halloween II just milks the reputation of the first film and doesn’t improve the depth of the story being told, like most sequels... think Jaws 1 & 2.
