Influenced by his eldest brother from an early age he was soon taking Prodigy CD’s into school and raising eyebrows. A passion for dance music - fed by Judge Jules’ Friday night shows on Radio 1, soon developed into a curiosity for production. After toying around with Music on the Sony Playstation and Dance Ejay he soon out grew these and went in search of a more professional program. At the age of 16 he began playing about with a new program called Fruity Loops.
Soon after this he left college to concentrate on his music production with the long term aim of getting commercial releases and DJ recognition. Chrysus was born. A few months in, he was gaining attention from Hard Dance DJ's up and down the UK with club plays from Phil Reynolds and Nick Sentience.
In late 2004 Michael gained the interest of Leeds legend DJ GRH and subsequently produced 2 tracks "Borderline/Inside The Sound" which were quickly snapped up by Fevah US. Not long after that, "2 Dance 2" - engineered for and alongside Carl Nicholson, caught the attention of Hard Dance superstar Illogik who quickly signed it to his Elasticman label. In October of 2005 Michael received support for “Chrysus and Johnny Harris - Shined on me” which featured in Amber D’s Tidy Weekender set which aired live on BBC Radio 1 across the nation, this tune still tody is being hammered by the big guns and yet again featured on the Radio 1 Essential set from The Tidy Boys at TWx in october 2006.
With several years of Hard Dance production under his belt Michael found a new love in the shape and sound of Tech-Trance and returning to his roots in uplifting trance. He concentrated on his own sound once again, but moving away from the harder UK scene, he delved into a deeper slower mood and began forging a new style under the aptly named guise, Michael Dow.
This proved to be a good move, and in summer 2005, he was receiving support from Lee Haslam who had also recently made the move from UK Hard Dance to the more European Tech-Trance sound. After “Come Closer” and “The time is now” appeared on M8 magazine’s cover CD mixed by Lee Haslam the pair decided it was time to partner up in the studio. Their first session saw them produce "The Future" which was snapped up by the well known label - Monster Records.
Now in 2006 - with more of his tunes and remixes signed to various labels and receiving support from names such as Sander Van Doorn, Marcel Woods, and Mark Sherry and BBC Radio 1 plays from Judge Jules, Michael Dow’s reputation is going from strength to strength.
Michael has also rocked venues across London including the Brixton Academy and The Fridge and is sure to be a regular on the circuit in the near future so keep your ears and eyes peeled!
