Jackson's musical career began in 1967 as lead singer of The Jackson 5, when the group made their first recording with a local label before signing up with Motown Records in 1968. He made his first solo recordings in 1971 while still a member of the group. But it was Off the Wall (1979) which marked the start of his full-fledged solo career, and he formally parted with his siblings in 1984. In his solo career, Jackson recorded and co-produced the best-selling album of all time, Thriller (with worldwide sales over 100 million), received thirteen Grammy awards and charted thirteen #1 singles in the U.S. Throughout his four-decade career, Michael Jackson has been awarded numerous honors, including the World Music Awards Best-selling Pop Male Artist of the Millennium. He is also a double-inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1997, and in 2002 as a solo artist. He is also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In the mid-1980s, TIME magazine described Jackson as "the hottest single phenomenon since Elvis Presley". He has had a notable impact on music and culture throughout the world while also tearing down racial barriers and paving the way for modern pop music.
From 1988 to 2005, Jackson lived on his Neverland Ranch property, on which he built an amusement park and private zoo for the enjoyment of economically disadvantaged and terminally ill children. In 1993 and 2003, separate accusations of child molestation that allegedly occurred in Neverland were made against Jackson, which drew intensely negative media coverage. While he was never charged for the first case, Jackson was tried and vindicated in 2005 of the latter allegation, but moved out of the US shortly thereafter. He later returned to Las Vegas in early 2007.
In the years following his acquittal, (2005-2009) Jackson made numerous public appearances including MTV Japan's VMA awards where he accepted the legends award; the World Music Awards where he accepted the Diamond Award for selling over 100 million records; James Brown's funeral where he paid tribute and delivered a sermon; and a fan appreciation event in Tokyo, Japan, where he greeted troops at US Army base Camp Zama. In early 2008, Jackson issued Thriller 25th Anniversary, a critical and commercial success that was the second-biggest selling album of 2008 with over 2.1 million copies sold worldwide.
On June 25, 2009, Jackson collapsed at a rented home in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles, California. The cause of death is currently believed to be cardiac arrest. At the time of his death, Jackson was scheduled to perform 50 sold-out concerts to over one million people, at London's O2 arena, from July 13, 2009, to March 6, 2010. During a press conference, Jackson made suggestions of possible retirement.
In the hours following Jackson's death, his record sales increased dramatically. His seminal album Thriller climbed to number one on the American iTunes music chart, while another eight made it into the top 40. In the UK, where Jackson would have performed less than three weeks after his death, fifteen of his albums occupied the top 15 spots on the Amazon music chart. Social music network website Last.fm also saw a dramatic increase in Michael Jackson plays per hour after the announcement of his death.
On December 10, 2010, a compilation album of previously unreleased material, simply entitled Michael, was released posthumously. Featuring guest performances by Akon, 50 Cent and Lenny Kravitz, the album was certified Platinum in 18 countries but received mixed reviews from most critics. This was followed in November 2011 by Immortal, a remix album; in September 2012 by Bad 25, a 25th anniversary reissue of Jackson's 1987 hit album Bad; and by Xscape, a second compilation album released in May 2014.

Michael Jackson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(Money)
Lie for it
Spy for it
Kill for it
Die for it
But I say it's just
In the devil's game
Of greed and lust
They don't care
They'd do me for the money
They don't care
They use me for the money
So you go to church
Read the holy word
In the scheme of life
It's all absurd
They don't care
They'd kill for the money
Do or dare
The thrill for the money
You're saluting the flag
Your country trusts you
Now you're wearing a badge
You're called the "Just Few"
And you're fighting the wars
A soldier must do
I'll never betray or deceive you my friend but
If you show me the cash
Then I will take it
If you tell me to cry
Then I will fake it
If you give me a hand
Then I will shake it
You'd do anything for money
Anything
Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil
Anything
Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil
Insurance?
Where did your loyalties lie?
Is that your alibi?
I don't think so
You don't care
You'd do her for the money
Say it's fair
You sue her for the money
Want your pot of gold
Need the Midas touch
Bet you sell your soul
'Cause your God is such
You don't care
You kill for the money
Do or dare
The thrill for the money
Are you infected with the same disease of lust, gluttony and greed?
Then watch the ones
With the biggest smiles
The idle jabbers
'Cause they're the backstabbers
If you know it's a lie
Then you will swear it
If you give it with guilt
Then you will bear it
If it's taking a chance
Then you will dare it
You'd do anything for money
Anything
Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil

Would lie for you

Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil

Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil
You say you wouldn't do it
For all the money in the world
I don't think so
If you show me the man
Then I will sell him
If you ask me to lie
Then I will tell him
If you're stealing with God
Then you will hell him
You do anything for money
Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil
Anything
Anything
Anything for money
Would lie for you
Would die for you
Even sell my soul to the devil

The lyrics to Michael Jackson's song "Money" speak to the corrupting influence of greed on humanity. In the opening verses, Jackson suggests that some people would go to great lengths to obtain money, including lying, spying, killing, and even dying. He argues that people who claim to act out of "trust" are, in reality, only playing "the devil's game" of greed and lust. From there, he takes on a variety of issues related to money and power, including corruption of religious institutions, betrayal of friends, and the emptiness of patriotism. Throughout, Jackson returns to the refrain that people will "do anything for money", even selling their souls to the devil.
The song is an unflinching critique of the role of money in society, and the ways in which it can corrupt even the most well-meaning individuals. Jackson makes clear that he sees money as a destructive force, one that drives people to betray each other and deceive themselves. In this sense, the song can be seen as a kind of warning against the dangers of unchecked capitalism, and a call to resist the powerful temptations of wealth and excess.
Overall, "Money" is a hard-hitting and provocative song that confronts some of the darkest aspects of human nature. Through his lyrics, Michael Jackson shines a light on the destructive power of greed and the ways in which it can subvert even our most cherished values and ideals.

Lie for it
You would say anything untruthful in exchange for money
Spy for it

Kill for it
You would murder for money
Die for it
You would sacrifice your life for money
So you call it trust
You consider these actions trustworthy
But I say it's just
But I think these actions are simply part of a game of greed and lust
In the devil's game
These actions are part of a sinful game
Of greed and lust
In which people want and desire money above all else
They don't care
Others do not care about you or your well-being
They'd do me for the money
They would betray or harm me for money
They use me for the money
They use me solely for my ability to make money
So you go to church
You go to worship and practice religion
Read the holy word
Reading sacred texts
In the scheme of life
In the grand scheme of things
It's all absurd
It is all nonsensical and meaningless
They'd kill for the money
Others would take a life for money
Do or dare
They would accept any challenge to gain money
The thrill for the money
They are excited and thrilled at the prospect of making money
You're saluting the flag
You are showing respect for your country's symbol
Your country trusts you
Your nation has confidence in your abilities
Now you're wearing a badge
You are now a law enforcement officer
You're called the "Just Few"
You are part of a small group of people considered to be righteous and fair
And you're fighting the wars
You are engaged in military conflict
A soldier must do
As a soldier, it is expected of you
I'll never betray or deceive you my friend but
I will always be loyal and honest to you, but...
If you show me the cash
If you offer me money
Then I will take it
I will accept it without hesitation
If you tell me to cry
If you ask me to show emotion
Then I will fake it
I will pretend to cry
If you give me a hand
If you offer me help
Then I will shake it
I will accept it and show gratitude
Insurance?
What about loyalty?
Where did your loyalties lie?
What is your true allegiance?
Is that your alibi?
Is that your excuse?
You don't care
You do not have concern for others
You'd do her for the money
You would use her for financial gain
Say it's fair
Claim it is morally right
You sue her for the money
You would take legal action to gain money from her
Want your pot of gold
You desire to have a large sum of money
Need the Midas touch
You crave the ability to turn everything into gold
Bet you sell your soul
I think you would sell your morality and values
'Cause your God is such
Because you care more about money than anything else
You kill for the money
You would take a life for money
Do or dare
You would accept any challenge to gain money
The thrill for the money
You are excited and thrilled at the prospect of making money
Are you infected with the same disease of lust, gluttony and greed?
Are you also consumed by the desire for excessive pleasures and material possessions?
Then watch the ones
Pay attention to those
With the biggest smiles
Who appear the happiest
The idle jabbers
The talkative, lazy people
'Cause they're the backstabbers
Because they are the ones who will betray and deceive you
If you know it's a lie
If you are aware that it is untrue
Then you will swear it
You will say it with conviction
If you give it with guilt
If you offer it with a feeling of wrongdoing
Then you will bear it
You will carry that guilt
If it's taking a chance
If it is risky
Then you will dare it
You will accept the challenge
You say you wouldn't do it
You claim you would not perform such acts
For all the money in the world
No amount of money could entice you
I don't think so
But I believe otherwise
If you show me the man
If you offer me a person
Then I will sell him
I will trade him for money
If you ask me to lie
If you request that I be dishonest
Then I will tell him
I will deceive him
If you're stealing with God
If you are committing a crime with the belief that God is on your side
Then you will hell him
You will go to Hell for your actions
