The hours I spent walking from area to area in Woodtick, just to hear all the musical variations. Screw you game critics, the players definitely noticed. I'm so glad that this section was done the uneconomic way!

@ItsKarl Totally, even to the locations where music was used sparingly. It gave the whole experience such an effective bow of suspense and made the constant revisiting of the same locations (in the case of terrible puzzle solvers like me) less of a chore.

@ElfishPresley BarbieBreath He used Samples from Wagner Works , cut the snippets and blend that in in a Kurzweil k 2000 that´s why i got a Kurzweil k 2000 in the first place, also he hired some woodwing players and singer to add more life into the soundtrack, brillant masterpiece

They did a crazy job on MI2 with iMuse system !! those guys were game changers, Michael your my hero! I am also musician and I play MI2 (at least) once a year since I was a kiddo, almost 30 years and I always find out some new detail on the music score, tried it always with different sound canvas, this is ridiculous I never been addict to something that much. I love you all the creators who made it happen <3<3<3

I agree ! Michael Land, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian were pioneers in VGM music. Today talented composers for video games are legions, but sadly very few of us are really interested by making interactive/dynamic music for games.

As a 14 year old, I was obsessed with Monkey Island 2's audio. I would point out all of the nuances to my friends... it was wild how seamless the audio was in all aspects of the game. I remember specifically pointing out the subtle audio change in the swamp to my dad, just blown away that something like that was even possible. These guys were at the top of the world when Monkey Island 2 launched. I don't think any midi game audio since then achieved such incredible heights.

My biggest disappointment with Monkey Island 3 was that Michael Land didn't play the compositions in that game. The orchestra just didn't capture the same feel that his playing had. These guys are seriously talented.

I miss LucasArts and companies like them that made quite unique games back in those days. Those video game genres are mostly extinct now which makes me very sad. I'm just tired of the current meta of online games which are pretty repetitive and uninteresting in design in my opinion. Or maybe I'm just getting old lol.

Two legends of my childhood, wow - and Clint Bajakian, the ingenious creator of the unique TIE Fighter score!!! And yes, that's what hurt so much about X-Wing 95/TIE Fighter 95 - they had no time/love/resources/whatever to port/preserve iMUSE and just threw CD audio in.

That work ethics they had, of not settling for around 55% but rather higher, at around 80-90, is why I think the Monkey Island games are such classics that will always have a meaning to alot of people, compared to the s_it fest that is the Star Wars prequels, that is solely based on making money and has no heart or soul whatsoever.
